the ones I was looking at are the "plastic" ones from walmart or vatozone. They say they can hold 6000lbs but I hope they dont deform or anything.

I've used these stamped steel jobs on all my cars, including my dad's four-thousand-pound Town & Country. I cut down a two-by-four and drove nails through the boards to hold them in place in those holes, which makes getting low cars up on it easier. I had a friend's slammed EG on them last weekend. They're pretty sturdy, certainly enough for CBs.

Accords are for winners. And Grandmothers. But mostly winners.
I've got a pair of Rhino Ramps that I got from Advanced auto... Built of thick plastic with a honeycomb inner structure. They're wide enough for 295 tires, shallow enough for fairly low riding cars and have a stop at the back of the ramp incase you go to far... the top is quite well defined so I've never had a problem driving off of them. I find them to be perfect for oil changes and any instance where I want to quickly get under the car... They're also great to take along whenever you want to go look at a car you plan to buy.

I got those to, and my brother loves them compared to his metal ones but i still like a jack and jack stands myself.

those rhino ones looks good especially with that large stop at the end to prevent driving over it.
how much were they?

I have the rhino ramps as well, unfortunately they do not grip the ground as much as you'd like.
I had them slide under the car... fuck ramps, jacks for life.
Ramps always fuck up for me, they're no good imo.
I want a pit.
I've found it best to line up the ramps and start back about 6" to get some momentum... once you're over the lip at the bottom of the ramp, they won't budge because they're pinned to the ground by the weight of the car. (and they've got rubber stops underneath to help) I prefer working on the car with jackstands for most things, but for simple things and going to look at cars you're gonna buy, they're invaluable IMO.

I used to use 1 5' long board on 1 cinder block per front wheel but I don't anymore. Front wheel drive plus gravel drive way = , even with the low angle of the ramp the car tries to pull the boards towards it while trying to climb.
