    non "recommended" fluids

Considering our cars are getting kinda old and they've been thrashed on probably for the last ten years or so, it seems the recommended tranny oil and maybe engine oil are now too thin. Anybody running heavier or unusual oil in the eng/trans? I was thinking of going to a diesel truck oil next, chevron delo 400, 15w40. My trans now has all the partial bottles I accumillated over the years in it, 3/4 quart redline mtl, some Torco mtl, chevron delo 15w40, sae30 nd,and finally a little Harley sae50. Now I have more shelf space and a smooooth shifting 5spd!

I recently drained and filled my Auto w/ this B&M trick shift fluid, 2 qts worth, so hopefully i didn't mess anything up.

I had really cheap sae30 in my trans and it cleared up a grind into 2nd and helped with the downshift into 1st, starting out in 1st was getting harder so I went to the mix I mentioned. Now it slides into 1st really well. Next I'll probably just use the 15w40 chevron, maybe a dash of MT90 Redline...

As for engine. Currently running Havoline Synpower 5w-30 to 6,000 miles (second run), with little loss (I think it was less than 1 quart last change).
Going to go back to the Pennzoil Platinum next change because I lost no noticeable amount of oil for 7,500 miles using the PP before for four changes or so. The engine stopped losing oil when I first used the PP, so I'm hoping I just need to switch back to it to stop the oil loss again.

Burning or leaking? Some oils have a seal-swelling agent, especially synthetics 'cause they tend to leak.
