    Startup issue

My car, over the last 2 weeks has been increasingly harder and harder to start.....doesn't take more "turn-overs" to start, just turns slower.

    I've checked battery voltage with:

    car off =12.58v
    car on =14.5v

The starter is not "stripping" or failing to engage, it's just when it does engage it is just extremely sluggish.........btw the battery is only about a year old.

Maybe battery voltage is fine but CCA's have gone low--dunno if that is possible? Starter is just fried and has become really weak? I did rinse out the engine bay with water a couple weeks ago, but I let it dry in the sun and it seemed to start fine right after that..

Run to Advance or your local dealer and have them test your battery. It won't take more than a few minutes and it'll tell you how many CCA's you need, and how many your battery actually has left. It's very common for you to read 12+ volts, but have less than 200 CCA, where your battery should be rated 500+

Starter may be taking a shart on you.

When I got my cb its cranked real slow, until one day the starter motor seized up.
      wat?

I'm hoping that if it IS the starter, it'll last till first of summer when i do my 5spd swap.....i might take it to Advance and hopefully find somebody this time who actually knows how to use the machine.

Well I went to Advance, and the smarter guy was actually working today. He checked it and the battery is in tip top shape, he loaded it a couple times and it lost minimal voltage. My car wouldn't start the first time he asked me to and then 5 minutes later it started up like new!

Pretty sure it's some bad armatures sp? in the starter motor. Hoping I can make it last till summer!
