    How to set TDC

I know this is a very stupid question for all who have done it before, but i was wondering how to do it. I would much rather know for sure how to do it before I even attempt to do it. I will be doing the timing belt on the h22 and might as well do the valve clearance while im doing that. I looked in my helms and cant find anything. I have one for the lude and accord.

Take out the rubber timing plug and align the mark on the flywheel with the arrow that will be visible with the plug out. Follow the #1 spark plug wire to the distributor and see where the #1 plug wire meets the distributor. You can find the #1 cylinder easily, as its the cylinder closest to the belts; look on the drivers side of the engine. Take the distributor off, and if the mark on the flywheel aligns with the arrow and the distributor rotor is aimed at the #1 plug wire terminal, you have TDC.

If it is aimed at #3, then rotate the engine until the rotor is at #1 and the mark lines up on the flywheel with the arrow.

Sounds easy enough. Now what is the best way to rotate or turn the engine? And should you turn it Clockwise or counterclockwise.
