    Type S Engine

I'm down to get the type s. But here are some of the questions I got ...
Hope you guys can help me out...

Does the type s(h22) conversion upgrade cb7s to obd2 or downs the engine to obd 1?(Simple q, but not sure)

How do you go about the shift linkages?

Is it possible to keep the original equipment without having dash lights on?

Please post the bigger problems with h22 swaps

Any other facts and things unknown to newbs are welcome!

    You convert down to OBD1.
You use the stock shift cables.
You will have to use the accord ac compressor if you choose to keep a/c.
You will have to use the prelude alternator if you want the belt to fit right.

      Thanks for a quick reply,
doesn't the complete swap come with the alternator?

I for see a few problems when swapping in the type-s motor into a cb7. Which is that the Type-s brought ATTS and has a different block(oil filter is relocated). So you will need a regular h-tranny and will have to fab up a plate to bolt up the halfshaft as the type-s doesn't bring one because the ATTS unit takes it's place. Other than that it's just converting to obd-1

Not sure on the price of the type-s compared to the euro-r but if it's the same it would be easier to swap the euro-r. They both make the same power but they are different.

why would you want to pay 1500 more than a reg h22 for 20 more hp.

i can find the type s camshafts and euro r intake and put it on my car and make the same power. i already dont like driving 80mph and 4grand. that would be to much strain on the motor driving any higer rpms than that. well i wouldnt like it.

don't forget the pistons... you may notice in my build i made the jdm motor i have pretty much a type s, except the intake.
                  11:5:1 comp pistons.

better geared tranny makes a motor way better!

                    It's just 11:1

Type-S motor is a league ahead of the regular H

I had some kind of freak H in my last CB and it was noticeably faster than any regular H I had experienced, especially on the top end

I would rather fucks with an H23A VTEC on a regular H22 tranny though.

If u wanna know what the gearing would be like on the highway, drive your F22A CB in 4th.

this guy has a point about the engines.. the euro-r is the way to go if you really want all that extra HP.

Does the type-s engine look like this??

pardon the writing on the photo, was explaining the differences of the Type-s and euro-r and normal H22a on my local board

Like what BB6-SH said, the ATTS unit will cause major headches when swapped into the CB. Im not sure if the mountings are similar either.

Over here, the 'red' VTECs cost twice as much as the regular VTECs

maybe its just me. i rather pay 1800 for a 200 hp than a 3300 for a type s and only gain 20 hp. your realy only paying for the red valve cover and to say you have a type s. it realy doesnt make that difference in 1/4 mile times. i ran a 14.6 at the track and i was spinning thro first gear with my jdm h22 non type s and still ran that time.

you are just looking at the HP numbers and not looking at how the motor is built and the flow it has in the head. It is a way better tuned engine than the regular one. And plus .. for the type s once you get the bolt ons for it then you have gained that much more in HP.
