Thats probably what ill end up doing, sadly, lol.

Ive got a guy looking for both H23s and a6's. Hes gonna call me back and let me know what he finds.

Finding an a6 with low mileage is the hard part. Ive found h23s on the net and they appeared to be reputable places, but all the a6's are off of Ebay...

uh I dont think h23s take premium only the vtec engines require premium gasoline your friend is just silly.

H23 have 9.8 compression. I'm sure they can get away with medium grade octane.

actually I am positive they dont run on premium. your friend is missinformed just looked over the compression ratios for integras and the ls has 9.4 compression and they run on 87 octane just fine i know this cause I used to own an Itegra.

Fuel grades aside..if i get the swap, i wont mind putting in something other than reg unleaded.

now that i know i can run either the p14 or the p06, that settles the ECU issue.

now all i gotta do is source out an ECU amd price for chipping.

Would it be cheaper to chip one or the other, or is all about the same price?

Go for a stock ecu for which ever motor you get, then think about chipping it once you get some decent mods going on.

Thats why i was thinking p14 instead of p06. The p14 is in the lude the H23 came out of so...itll be easier to run, but i gotta figure out how to wire up that knock sensor.

Chances are i'll end up wiring the sensor. Id rather figure out how to wire up a knock sensor than to pay $150 for a chipped ECU.

I'm positive that less than premium trips the knock sensor and/or knocks like none other and honda lists 91 octane as the minimum required by the car.

It's possible to run regular in those motors, but you have to tune it differently than honda did... I've seen it done and you loose power.
You can tune that teggie to run on premium and gain power. It's all in the tune!
