H23 manual tensioner on H22 engine

When timing a h22 with the h23 manual tensioner conversion done, the belt is very tight and a real mother to get on. Now for the dumb part. Is it possible to use h23 cam gears (on h22 cams) h23 crank gear and h23 water pump and of course h23 timing belt.

The gear ratio of the crank rotation to cam rotation is 2:1 as long as the matching set of gears is used. Just wondering if anybody has tried putting h23 cam gears on a h22 cam.

as far as im aware, H23 cam gears are the same as B18, B16 and B20 cam gears....

Cmak bought soem H22 cam gears for his F22b and there different.

also, why would you want to go through all that work?

No because the h22 cam gear works just fine.

have you done a h23 manual tensioner conversion? The belt is very tight and hard to get on esp. when you are doing it in the car. It takes two of us to get that belt on when doing one in the car. If I used the h23 cam gears and water pump and crank gear it should all be the same ratio still. I'm going to try it, plus the h23 gears are smaller so they would be lighter. I'm trying it on the H22 that i'm putting into my frosty cb7.

i have the h23 tensioner on my h22 swap and I still have the h22 cam gears and waterpump.. so it's possible, I would recommend working at it till you get it to fit the "right" way instead of experimenting on your swap.. unless you have loads of mula. but good luck either way, I paid someones mom to do mine. jk

yeah why bother it's still going to be a tight fit. now i could see if you had an adjustable set you didn't want to part with

All T-belts are relatively tight to get on, you have to make sure you line up the crank and cam gear in the correct positions (TDC) and then adjust the cam gear slight to the T-belt orientation so it slips on smooth, free of hassle after the T-belt is routed through the timing gear, water pump and T-belt tensioner pulley of course.

Properly label your threads from now on, so people can search and find relative threads.

Go to Majestic Honda site to compare part #'s for your answer on H22 vs H23 cam gears.
