    a4 butterfly valve?

just swapped in an a4 engine, to replace the blown a2 and I am very suprised to find out that it rev's to 7k rpm, I had no clue, but my old motor only got up to 5500rpms just wondering how do I hook up the I guess its called "butterfly valve", its something on the back of the motor under the throttle body and I was told it could be done by splicing some wire but I don't really know for sure, I was told it adds a little power as well. im also getting a high piched noise at half throttle and it isn't an intake or exhaust noise. I think it actually has to do with the butterfly valve maybe??? any help would be awsome

did u put in the f22a6 ecu?
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

the only butterfly valve is on the f22a6 intake manifold and H series

check to see if you have that manifold by looking for a spacer-looking thing between the upper and lower plenums of the intake manifold and check if there is an actuator/vac line on the right side of that spacer

yeah, I was gonna say, A4 has the same intake manifold as the A1

where you been, is something wrong?

ok so I have found out by looking back and forth from my old motor, I have an extra what looks like a small horn with lines running to it on the upper part of the throttle body on the right side, and underneath the throttle body is a little black square box I didn't have before and I saw an ecu inlet place somewhere near it that I didn't have a plug for. but yeah I don't have the a6 wiring harness, still have the a2

I AM A DUMBASS, sorry guys I re-checked the block code and its an a6, I am a retard, I guess I forgot I dunno what I was thinkin, but I still need help with how to hook it up, sorry again guys and after reading up on it, I think its working now cause of what it does at high rpm's but there is still a plug missing I need for something lol btw I found this http://users.adelphia.net/~hagakure962/
its a good detailed intake swap

No such thing as an A2 in the US, so I am not sure what you are talking about there.

Ok, if you do have an A6, then you can wire up the butterflies, BUT you will need to get an A6's ecu, which is a PT6.

Or you can just hook them up to vacuum control, but they won't really work properly.

my previous motor block code says a2 specifically so I dunno, there might have been a swap I don't know about or im so jdm that its a direct import from japan > anyways im goin turbo most likely here soon, so a hondata will be used as a piggyback and I don't feel like swapping over the harness for the butterfly valve, I guess ill rig something up. I'll probly keep the ecu that's in there now because I dyno'd my car and it has a perfect a/f ratio and timing could use a little adjustment but im fine with it until I have to deal with the turbo. BTW 116whp and 115.5wtq, that is with a muffler on as well so not very free flowing. and if anyone has turbo parts lmk I have to have "cookies" or something stupid now to view f/s section

You don't have to swap a whole harness. Just run 1 more wire to the ECU. Of course this has to be coupled with the PT6 ECU out of a 92-93 Accord EX. Or you could chip a P06 ECU from a civic. You will need that anyways if you choose to use Hondata when you boost.

Oh and, the reason the ECU you have now works fine (probably the PT3) is because the motors are basically the same except the intake manifold and a slight cam difference, as well as a stock exhaust manifold difference.

ok thanks man, didn't really think it mattered too much but I might as well, im assuming the ecu's just unplug and swap type deal?

Yeah, the ECU will just plug in. It's exactly the same in terms of appearance and fitment.

A2 may be an Australian engine. JDM motors don't have numbers, but the Aussies seem to have some oddball ones!

just t off another vac line and hook the things up works just as well and they open at full throttle when vac drops out.......no need to do all that wiring unless u just want to

this method is not as effective.
