I understand this motor can be bought for only $1,200 and I'm just wondering how potent and responsive is this motor to mods?

I had an idea to save and buy one and stuff it into an EG Hatch.

Now I know it's not a Civic forum but help me out here guys.

What would I need? I tried Honda-Tech but eh they're kinda iffy on information.

it would be a nice combination with a civic, since the torque isnt all that high.

if you go into the swap forum index and look at possible swaps, it gives a explaination of the engine. search just a little and you will find a good amount of info on the engine.

I think you would have to do all the same things as you would to get an H into a civic. Axles, mounts and such...

its not as potent nor as responsive as an h22. You can buy that for 1,200 id personally rather get an h22 just save your pennies into gettin a swap newclutch and flywheel with the ecu. The swap would prolly cost you 2,000 tops being that this engine isnt as desired as it was back in the day.

almostjdm has this swap. he says its pretty quick, but you do have to change it from obd2 to obd1, which is kind of a pain, stick with the h22a, or if you want obd2, get an h23vtec.

obd2-1 conversion isnt hard at all. This motor has been done before in civics. I think I saw it on hT. But the motor mounts in like an h22a so you might need to get an h22a mount kit from hasport.

Exactly. The F20B is basically an H22. The differences are inside.

Honestly, it might be a better choice for a Civic. Less low-end torque than the H22, with a decent high-end. You can make decent power and retain traction.

Be careful where you buy, though. Cheaper doesn't always mean better... in fact, it rarely does. Also, I've heard many times that the majority of the F20Bs imported to the US are the 180hp automatic versions.

So true, what deev said about the 180hp versions. almostJDM got lucky and got a manual version (as far as we can tell, it had a manual throttle rotor on it...).
