    My H22 hits limiter @ 7800....

ok Im wondering if something is not right , Ive seen Videos and stuff that show h22's Reving to like 8200 or soo . Whe I drive my car it hits vtec around 5000 RPM and pulls hard til I hit some limiter at around 77-7800 RPM , I was told from someone thats not normal my motor is a 94 prelude H22 JDM version , so only H22A no number is there something wrong ... Please help and if someone could look it up would I lose any performance if my ECU was for an automatic ? I dont know for sure but when I jump the ECU it gives me a Automatic Trans Code , and my motor and trans are manual ... I dont get a check engine light but still . Im curious if this is a problem ??????

    Please Help ??

first of all, your tach becomes in-accurate beyond its intended range. So your tach may read 7800, but in reality u can be at 8000. Also, your ecu is for an automatic tranny, this could change the RPM that your motor is limited to. Change the ecu to a manual, and if your car still limits to 7800 and no code gets thrown, your setup is normal. If this still bothers you, get an aftermarket tach hooked up, then you should see the actual RPM and you should be able to go to 8000.

7600 is the stock rev limiter.

ok now is it the same on automatic or manual ?

I cannot figure out if the ECU is hurting me or not , I heard there is someone that can make my auto ECU manual Very easy ... I dont know what the difference is personally , I cannot find anything talking about it , I had a manual ECU and it came burnt inside soo they sent me a new one and I beleive they sent me a automatic one ....

Some limiters are set at 7500 some at 7800 I dunno why but there is actually a difference (JDM vs USDM [higher]). Its not because of manual or auto since either way you have to convert either p13 to run. You might be able to get rid of the limiter you need some AFC device. You might as well get a chipped ECU if you want to reset limiters since you cant do jack shit to the stock p13.

the auto and manual programs are identical. the only diff is a pair of resistors to control the lock up solenoid on the torque converter.

I have been a Crome user for 3+ years and every single stock p13 dump i have seen, USDM, JDM manual, JDM Auto, and EDM has had rev limit at 7654 or some oddball number like that. Its not hard to change though, Crome allows it to be done with a click and keystroke....

btw if you have an auto ecu you will have a code 19 thrown ALL the time...

You can get a chipped ecu thats set to your specs. A member here (MRX) can make you a custom chipped ecu or you can go to phearable.net(which most people dont like) and get a chipped ecu. However i dont think a stock h22 is gonna make power all the way up to 8000.

Hmmm Thats strange , so your sayin my car wouldnt run on an Auto ECU ? For some reason I was getting a Code for the trans but no CEL , I still think i have the code for Auto ECU but it doesnt give em a cel and doesnt seem to run bad .. So how are these people saying a stock H22 is reving to like 8k ???

As I said difference in ECU settings and where they are made. I have seen some 4g hit 7800 and some hits 7500 or 7600 whatever it just depends on ECU you get. My friend converted an auto p13 to manual p13 so it would run right on the car.

well here is my situation I got this JDM H22 about 2 weeks now its been installed , I plan on running a Zex 75 Dry kit on it I have the kit and the tuning kit for it ... Bottle Heater, Blow Down, Pressure Guage, Purge ... so I definatelly want to use it someday , Im also getting the MDS Digital SCI in a few weeks , along with a walbro fuel Pump 255lph, So I want to run Zex on the track days and all motor for street use ... I just dont know if u can run a chipped ECU all the nitrous people claim never to use a chipped ecu cause they advance timing and stuff like that ... I know some people have the ECU run the Nitrous but I want mine totally seperate seems how its only a ZEX kit it has the dummy box and all of that intact so i dont need to be too worried ... The Reason I made this thread is right now I dont want to be hurting or not getting my performance from my motor because of an ECU issue but if there is no power behond the 7600 its limited to now, it shouldnt matter I just need to figure out a perfect shift point , ive noticed alot of the you tube H22 videos they bounce on the limiter alot , doesnt that hurt the motor , it doesnt sound healthy to me but ive seen several vids like that ...
                      makes me cringe ...

yeah I dont notice anything not running right , but then again I dont know what to look for ... I did read somewhere that all you need to do is remove the R11 , and put it on R12 or if R12 has one on it just simply remove R11 , im not sure this is right but its for a P13 wich is what Ive got ... I need to find more on converting from auto to manual ... does ur friend want to share his method with me ?? I would appreciate it greatly LOL

Bouncing off the limiter is probably not a good idea but i think how much damage you do depends on the limiter you have. I read somewhere that its worse to have the kind of limiter that cuts fuel cause you create a lean condition but then i read that there's a limiter that can cut spark which i would think is still bad but probably better than creating a lean condition.

I think thats same thing I heard , I would like to get rid of the limiter so I can use my MSD limiter and not worry about a lean condition on Nitrous or anything like that ... dont want to hurt my baby ... LOL

I know what you mean. Im putting the H in soon and i got the phearable ecu to go with it and i had them set my rev limiter at 7800. I think doing it that way through the ecu as compared to limiting through an ignition setup is what causes a lean condition sooo... best believe i will not be hitting that limiter too often!
