Yes, it does matter which way the chip is inserted. there should be an arrow or a little half moon on it, make it point towards the plug side.

I wouldn't give up just yet. You just need to find someone selling an automatic chipped p06 and ask to trade straight up.

OR, you could sell it, and buy an auto p06 and chip that one.

You'd have to convert it to auto, but it's not even worth the hassle.

Best bet as of right now, convert to manual or get a p39 or p14. with the p14, you'd have to wire in a knock sensor.

Same level of difficulty as it is to chip an ecu. Not hard at all.

But knowing what parts you need and where to get them is the hard part.

if I had an auto ecu, i'd send it to you asap. But I don't so I'm sorry. Ask MRX or anyone else.

also, will a 96-00 civic ecu work? and does it matter if it's a vtec ecu

                  Yup.

But go ahead and find the correct ones. Then figure out where they go.

accord/prelude boards arent the same as civics. So, while you can use the parts, you won't be able to put them in the same area. It's different for every type of board since some have things that some don't.

no, that's actually where a lot of people get their auto components from.

But if you have an auto p28, sell the p06 and chip the p28.
