dad says it wont pass emissions if you swap the h22a into the cb7. also, do i need an aftermarket downpipe PLUS header, or just the aftermarket downpipe for the h22a when swapping? thanks.

If it is a H22A1 it should pass since it is a USDM motor. Only downfall to this motor is the high mileage. Also be sure to do the maintenance shit to it to help it run better. You need a complete header (99% includes downpipe) if you dont have one on there. But if you have the stock ones it will bolt to the cat. Check the sticky it has everything in there. All h22a swaps are basically the same other than the obd2-1 motors that need some minor work.

The header for the JDM bolts on just fine the part where it does not bolt on only applies to 5th gen accords. No the JDM wont pass because of its higher compression. Some people have been lucky throwing in the usdm p13 but barely pass. 97% of the time its not happenin.

JDM will not pass emissions in most cases. The JDM downpipe will not bolt to the USDM Accord catalytic converter. Have a muffler shop weld on a new flange, or find yourself a USDM downpipe. That should bolt up.
This information is readily availible on this forum... it has been discussed many times (especailly the emissions part...)

There are a lot of people in California with JDM H22 and have their motors passing smog easily. I have personally met and talked with several of them. To say that JDM H22's don't pass is bogus. As long as your emmisions are straight and you have a good cat (not your original oem cat), then it'll pass.

i am one of these people that have a jdm h22, live in california, and I am smog legal. not that hard...just have to have smog legal intake, header, cat, exaust, 2ndarys on the intake manifold(black box), as all major smog equipment and usdm p13 ecu. i got mine legalized about 8-9 months ago at the cali ref. its just a myth that jdm engines can't get smoged in the states/california You can do it!!
