So one could get the axles from the J30 and there F22 or H22 and take it to a shop and tell them you want one end off of one axle and the other off the other axle?

yeap...thats what we did for my school Formula SAE car.

We had to get two differing splines on each end of the drive shafts.

I was also thinkink, It was discussed somewere in this thread.

The Acura CL, im not sure what years came with the V6 but some guys were saying they still had the 4cl version witch was an F23 if im not mistaken.

Couldnt we just get the cl v6 motor mounts and there ready for a f based chasis needing only holes to cut for mounting.

The 97-99 CL's had either a J30, F22B, or F23A. Still, it is not easy to determine if these mounts would work exactly the same because unless you get them out and look at the engine bays of both the CB and the CL you are not going to be sure that where the mounts bolt up will be exactly the same. I guess we could get a better idea if we had a really good image of the CL bay empty side by side with the CB engine bay empty. Going to search for images now.

EDIT: So I have been cruzing Acurazine.com for a while. So we are going to be looking at the First Gen CL for any possibilities. People with first gen CL's had the option of either an F23, F22, or J30. I have seen images of people running H22 swaps in their First gen CL's so that shows that bays are very similar to the accord bay. As for the engine mount shots, here are the best I could find

          Driver's Side Mount

          Passenger's Side Mount

Front Mount *crappy image, best I could find*

          Transmission Mount

Empty Engine Bay *crappy image, best I could find*

The page I pulled all the images from
          http://cl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=188630
          and
          http://cl.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193760

This seems promising People with knowledge of the CB mounts and swaps need to comment on whether these are the same or different than what I've posted.

Is it just me or does that engine bay remind you of a CB's bay...It looks identical...Almmost

The CL engine bay is EXACTLY the same as the 94-97 Accord engine bay. Now are the 94-97 Accord bays the same as the CB bay?

Depends if its v6 or i4. There are some minor differences but most of them are the same dimensions. I think the 5th gens have a lil more room in the front as I recall. There battery is also mounted horizontal vs vertical.

I am guessing that the I4 and V6 differences are the same between the Accord and CL. So whatever differences there are, are shared between the two chassis.

i always thought that the 5th gen V6 front end was a bit longer than the 4 cylinder ones. i dunno if that's true though.

Only mountains worth of wiring, custom axles, and oddysey spindles...
But you have to remember that there ARE differences between the v6 and 4 cylinder CD engine bays. I'm not sure of exactly the differences but they aren't exactly the same. I'm beginning to think that custom mounts are going to have to be made.

Yes, but that requires welding. If you have access to proper welding equipment and a skilled welder then go ahead. Like it's been said many times in this thread already, until someone has the motor and an empty bay it's going to be hard to determine what will work.

I have the welding equipment...A good welder....Everything but the motor and trans..

Sometime this summer I will get the motor and trans and this swap will be accomplished...

Well, first you are going to have to figure out whether the brackets for the v6 CLs/CDs are the same as the brackets for the 4 cylinder CLs/CDs. If they are, then check to see if they are the same as the brackets on the CBs.

If none of them are the same, then you will need to knock out the mounts from the v6 CL to weld into the CB bay.

My dad has a friend at work who owns a 97 3.0L CL, so either this afternoon or tomorrow I will go down there and get some better images and measurements of the mounts and location of the mounts in the bay.
