Basically t he only thing thats holding me back right about now is my no knowlegde of how to weld and mabey wiring but that doesnt seem like it would be that difficult if i could find a harness or get one made.

i have the money and i can afford the downtime as i carpool to work with a buddy, but i wouldnt really trust myself welding motor mounts that would be hold well, who knows well see what happens when i try welding in my quarters when they arrive later this week

the original V6 motor mounts could be used I suppose...with some modifications...that way you don't have to make solid mounts (vibration crazy!!!!) or source bushings.

nice npor, what vehicle did that j35 come out of?

oh and i have 2 questions for you guys

is the 04 odyssey underrated in the horsepower and torque? i only ask this because the 05 has 250ish and around 250 torque while the 04 has around 240 each. haven driven both an 04 and an 05 is the gearing that much different in the tranny because of the attempt to raise gas milage with the valve shut off and stuff in the 05. i only ask because i have driven both and my parents 04 pulls harder and seems to make more power as compared to the 05 that i drove. or could it just be the ecu because they were trying to conserve gas?

oh and yea lokuptha for the swap i figured that the regular v6 mounts would be used but wouldnt they need to be welded in?

im hoping that i can find a j35 around me somewhere or get one shipped. oh yea and wouldn't a regular stock harness work with a bit of modification or would one need to be made?

well see, and keep us updated npor

The 05 Odyssey is substantially heavier than the 04, hence the difference in acceleration times.

yeah, when i said "don't get too excited guys", i didn't mean it sarcastically. haha, i reread it and it looks like i'm being an asshole.

i ment dont get too excited, the plan is VERY thin. so thin, i don't know if i'll even touch the motor or do anything to it before/if i resell it.

for all that time and money i'd throw in a skyline motor, all wheel drive and the 6speed and twin turbo the shit out of it.

too bad that wouldn't fit without major modification

a v6 would fit without having to do major mods to the entire car

                              Comment

Ok, just thinking about this today. It doesn't have to do with V6 swaps alone, but more about motor swaps in general.

Why don't people use the harness from the original car the motor came from? When talking about JDM harnesses it's understandable not using it because it came from a RHD application.

But what about the USDM harnesses? For some swaps this may be overkill (like with the H22, it's easier just to add the 3 or 4 wires for Vtec) However, when talking about these V6 swaps, it would seem there would be much more differences.

This would be even worse if the motor came from a Drive-by-Wire car (which are become more common in Hondas)

So, if someone where to swap in a V6 out of a Drive-by-Wire car, what would be the downsides to using the harness out of the donor car?

This is all talk, I'm to cheap to do this
