    DOHC VTEC Heads

Where do u find DOHC VTEC heads for swaps? I'm headed to college so naturally I don't have the cash for a bigger project but I love DOHC VTECs so I figured just swap the head on and have my own hybrid. What heads work for our stock F22 bottom ends? I know u need the VTEC solenoid but I'm not sure what ECU is needed. I assume whatever engine the head comes from? What I had in mind was to get an F20B head since the F20B was built for high end power just like F22s along with sri, header, and a full cat back I could possibly get maybe 175-200hp to the crank?

Easier said then done. Doing a Vtec head swap is not as simple as just slapping on the head. Might want to read up on my info on head swaps.

easier to swap in the F20B, H22/H23.. DOHC VTEC yo, tho the H23 VTEC is kinda rare, and the h23 and F20B are obd2..

But thats the thing I dont wanna pay swap money. I don't and wont have it for a very long time. I just want a little bit more ponies for about $300-$500 bucks. Not too mention the school Im going to is out in the woods thereisnt a performance shop for hours. With a head I can do that in the corner of the student parking lot and be fine. I'm not gonna have any space to store a long block engine. Plus I only plan on doing one complete engine swap for my cb7 anyways.

If your not gonna have the car for a long time dont do anything to it and save your money.

No you misunderstand, I'll keep the car I just don't see the point of buying a setup for only like 2 years and then swapping in the one I really want afterwards. I'm searching the site right now and I can't find too much of anything on hybrids. Myabe I just suck at the search feature.

People use the h23/f22b dohc head. SHould be a thread on how to put it on and what you need.

What I don't see the point in is slapping a DOHC VTEC head on a block that can't rev high enough. You will never make 175-200 hp to the crank by just slapping on a head.

see i was in the same boat as u, but this why i went full motor swap instead of a hybrid
                      1. reliability, this wont garrantee that everything will stay together w/o leakage or somthing else happening

2.back up motor, ANY BUILD WILL HAVE PROBLEMS, so i needed a backup motor so if anything blows then back to my f22

Well I meant to add with sri, header, cat, and catback i should be somewhere in that range, which is good enough for me.

And since I'm a noob on this subject why doesnt the H22 head bolt up to the F22 block and yet the H23/F22 hybrid seems so popular?

It bolts up, you just have to modify coolant passeges (that goes for all of them).

The H22 and F20B heads make their power up high, using a high compression block. Put those heads on a low-compression F22 block, with internals that shouldn't rev past 6500 or so, and you won't have anything worthwhile. Save up for a full motor and do it right, or don't bother. Hybrids don't do much for us.

If you want power NOW for about $500, get a nitrous kit.

What about the H23 VTEC?(He just won't give up will he? lol) Yea I know it's rare but I'm sure they're around somewhere.....

And deev while you're around, since I'm a total noob on the subject of head swaps I might as well push the envelope and ask what about the F20C? Yea yea I know I know but a head is a head right? Even if it does sit longitudally. More high compression?
