    She runs!!!!!!!!!(h23)

After months of preparing everything and 1200 cash down the drain my rebuilt h23 is now in and started up. After we corrected the firing order(as it's not the same as the f22) and fixed the fuel leak it started straight up. but she's running rough and stumbles at low RPM's and feels like itr doesnt have any power. I rigged up the dizzy my self. I have a f22a6 dizzy(external coil) and a f22a4(internal) and referenced them to convert the h23 to internal but I'm sorta thinking that the way in which i did it may be kinda wrong. I didn't solder anything, does that matter???

p.s.- Thank you CB7tuner forum for all the help. I'm so excited!

hy dont you just buy an external H23 and convert to that. It would be better to solder the wires or just wrap em up good. I dunno if the F dizzy will run the H23 right.

as long as you didnt mix the shafts, you're all good.

any of the internals(wires, modules, igniters, coil) will interchange, but thats it.

I went to the junkyard looking for a 92 and up wiring harness and couldnt find on in one piece, so i converted the h23 external to an internal. And no, the h series dizzys wont work on the f22, i checked about a million times

I never said the whole dizzy works, just the internals between all f/h will interchange.

Strange thing- I was out in the garage playing my drums when i decided to start it again and let it warm up. I started her up and after about 5 minutes I go to rev her up and she's no longer stumbling....It's feels like it's at full power. It's not mis-firing or anything, Why would it do that? Not 3 or 4 hours ago it was stumbling and sounded like the timing was off.

Note: When i went out there to play my drums I didn't touch anything on the car, I just started her up.

Thanks. I'm proud of my self more so that I built the motor myself and it started. Plus i got the timing right first shot. I'd still like to know wtf was with the stumbling going away???? (not that it's a bad thing)

This is awesome to see this thread right now. I just finsished my h23 headswap less than 3 hours ago and it its stumbling like a bastard. I am running a stock p14 ecu, which was used for a previous succesful h23/f22. I am really hoping that the engine is running good tomorrow morning. I was thinking maybe the ecu had to get it's base readings or something but that was a total shot in the dark.

Yeah mine sounded like crap, now she's running totally strong, and I'm using a p14 as well. I'm hoping it just needed a base reading, I'm starting to fear that maybe the 160 dollar oil pump wasnt good.

did you guys wire in the knock sensor? that could be why its running like crap.

if you can have internal coil on your car, then find a f22b distributor on ebay. its internal and I have seen em sell for $20 on ebay.

Awesome. Any performance added to this H23 rebuild? Good job nonetheless.
