h22 runs & revs but somethins screwy

ok so my h22 swap is about 2hrs from done. i need to tap the tranny holes and swap my cv's (which i have but am havin a wrench breaking problem gettinthe old ones off)
so the eng starts, but it bounces from like 1200-2400, and the speedo goes righ to 10 mph when i turn the key. and when i hit the gas its suuuper sensitive and the speedo jumps alil when i rev it wtf is the prob, i took my sweet ass time getting the swap done RIGHT and idk what the dilly is. i didnt hook up my iab i bypassed it. and i also didnt hook up the egr wire i belive it is. could that be it?? i have the egr wire ran into the car just not hooked up(what i think is the egr, it says 11c on it, and its shaped like a space ship and its attached to the h22 vtec wires harness) i didnt kno what pin location to put it in so i just didnt could that be my sensitive rev issue, and idk what to do about the speedo
    who needs a manual anyway

I didnt really understand much of your post, but it sounds like you didnt wire up some stuff since you didnt know where it went.

If you have loose wires that should be connected, connect them before we try to troubleshoot. Dont rev the engine high until it is working correctly, and got any CEL's?

As mentioned any CEL present and check your speed sensor. As for your sensitive throttle check your throttle cable.

what ecu are you using? that chipped p28 or p13? dont forget you do have a knock sensor. and not hooking up your iabs will throw a cel along with alot of other shit buddy.

Check the harness for the ECT sensor on the front water housing. There are 2 plugs that are awfully similar, I mixed them up when I first installed my engine.

If not that, check all other connections, clean your IACV and make sure all your vacuum hoses are connected and there are not leaks around the intake manifold.

iacv, not iabs buddy, lol. read again.
if throwing a code 6, its your etc, but that shouldnt really make your idle bouncy like that. at least it didnt do it on mine when i mixed them up.

im runnin a p13 ecu, all hoses are connected, i took alot of pics of before the swap and i checked alot of pix online of ludes with h22's for reference of hoses and whatnot. the throttle cable is kind of tight but it doesnt pull on the cable at all. and i DID run the knock sensor wire and its connected, the only things i didnt do were the EGR (i think its the egr) and the IACV (iab box i thought it was called) connection. but i did run the 3 wires for the egr with the vtec & knock just incase i need to plug it in. (i just dont know where)

and i dunno how to check for CEL's my buddy has a laptop and a program for tuning his lude i reckon i could use his, no?

whats the ect ?? sry about all the questions, im good with any tools, but when it comes to electrical im not so good. i took DMT electronics senior year @ tech 3 yrs ago but that doesnt help for the lingo, lol

ect is engine coolant temperature sensor. There are two things with the same plug (i think one is on the side of the head under the dizzy, and other is either on the radiator neck on the front of the engine, or the thermostat.)

If you dont have that black box connected... connect it.

If you dont have your iacv connected, connect that.

And connect the three wires that you have already wired up for. If you search, you would find more than enough wiring diagrams to figure out exacly where they go.

the ect sensors are located at the ends of the 2 big coolant hoses in your engine.

but it still sounds like your speedo is fucked up. i mean, why would it show any mph when you're still? the idling issue im guessing is your iacv. the iabs shouldnt cause any cels or abnormal activity in the engine.

and which black box are you talking about? the big one or the small one? you def need to hook up the big one.

ok for the ect, i have a sensor on the back part of the hose that comes off the radiator and to the block but not on the front where my f22 did..idk why, the motors a jdm h22a. and the box i have not hooked up is pretty big, 3 by 6" its the iab or iacv w/e its called.
-yeah im gonna look up the diagram and plug in the egr wires tomorro, i was gonna bypass it but i dont have the plate and i jst want to get it on the road already.
                          - i cant figure out the speedo prob tho, i'll see what happens when i drive it tomorro (for the 1st time)
im mad stoked i pray nothing goes wrong.

thats the big box, that would explain a lot of things. hook that up and some problems should go away. you have vac leaks all over the place without that.

my jdm f22b didnt have that second ect either, but I removed the one from my old engine and put it on this one since i used the stock engine harness. duno bout you tho, im assuming you used the h22 harness, if so, that should be ok.

If you use the F harness you have to swap the water housing from the F onto the H so you can have that front ECT sensor.

For the speedo, check the VSS on the backside of the trans. Those plugs are a bitch and get pretty cruddy after a while. Go over the entire engine, make sure every vacuum line is plugged in as well as EVERY plug goes to a sensor and they clip in and are snug. Then re-set the system (pull the 7.5amp radio fuse for 10 seconds) then crank her up and let it warm until the fan cycles.

                              Good luck!
