well I worked on the thing today, I found the main reason I'm smelling gas (there was a leak with one of the injectors). got that fixed and no more gas smell, but its definatly not sparking. are the ignition modules between the F series distibutor and the H the same? if so I could run up to the place my old motor is at and snatch that ignition module (I had the car trailor'd to my house so it'd be easier to work on). a buddy of mine seems to think it may be the coil... which coil would I get? (I'm guessing the one for the 95 prelude Vtec)

and yes I am running the internal coil

also note, I AM getting power TO the distributor. so it can only be 3 things really:

ignition module, coil, or the distibutor itself (unlikely)

so the ignitor consist of the ignition module, and what it is attached to?

after a little digging, I've found the the coil for USDM OBD1 H22's are external... what coil could I use?!?! (would an OBD1 GSR/DelSol B16 coil be internal?)

ok so I'm guessing MOST Honda coils (internal) and ignition modules are the same (at least thats what I've gotten from searching)...

I'll grab the ignition module out of my F tommorow and if that doesnt fix it try to get my hands on a new coil, since these seem to be the two cheapest things to check first.

I think the Civic Si (99-00) has a similar internal coil setup. You can try using an ignitor from that. I converted mine to external so it would be easier to find parts for it.

maybe I can use that as an option, what all would be included in converting to external? other than putting the wires back to stock?

I bought a "new" USDM H22A Distributor (An H23A dizzy will work too). And left the wires as is if I remember. I also had to find a place to mount the coil but other than that Thats it I think.

distributor king for all your jdm dizzy needs. get a discount through honta-tech.

My money is on the coil, ive had my coils go bad a bunch of times.. If i remember right they can test your ignitor at the parts store.

ignitor = ignition module I guess? I used to work at Advance, and I've always called it the ignition module (and yes they can test it)

update: got rid of the Code 21 cel (wired the solenoid)... now I gotta get me a pressure switch since I was so lucky to get a motor without one (had the block off screw)

still throwin a cel (22 now, for the pressure switch) things are starting to get easier though!
