The pulsating idle could be your Fast Idle Valve, EGR valve, or some other vacum leak. Next time it begins to surge disconnect the vacum line from your EGR valve and see if it normalizes.
As for the miss that's more difficult to pin point. Are you plugs properly gapped? It could be a bad plug, wire, cap messed up, rotor. It might not even be ignition could be an injector. Or worse a valve not seating properly and etc.
It's normally something easy to find the worse case senerio almost never happens.
Just go completely threw the ignition system. If you have an extra distributor swap it, maybe the cam angle sensor is acting up or the ignitor, maybe coil, etc. If the problem is not in the ignition check the injectors.
If you have no check engine light then it's a problem the computer can not register/read. So it's a good chance the cam angle sensors/injectors are good the problem could be else where or maybe an injector clogged with some debris.
Jsut take your time and work threw it. I'm sure you'll find the solution.

I am having similar problems with my H22. I revs 1000-2000 rpms back and forth. It drives normal. I am currently using my F22 5 speed ECU. When I put the H22 ECU, it idles at 2000 rpms. When I try to rev it up, it will only rev up to 3000 rpms.
Some say its my tps sensor, gasket leak (between throttle body and head), vacumm lines are leaking, bad egr sensor, ect.
Is there anyone in the Central Valley that can help me?Stolen out of Circuit City Parking Lot :

I know that when you have a vacum problem or intake coupling seal leak that your engine will bog/idle funny. So one thing you might want to do that worked for me is take ether, and spray it aorund your intake mani, and intake couplings, if your idle rises then you have a coupling thats loose or gasket, my intake coupling was loose before which lead to my engine bogging out at acceleration. So that will help with the intake side, as for vacum lines I belive visual inspection is best.To have loved and lost is better than to have never loved at all #CB7Life
