    list of H22's...what's the best?

Alright, I'm looking for an H22. which of these is the easiest to swap, jdm/usdm, or vtec? Which is the swap that most people have?

    H22 Honda Accord SiR 1994-1997

    H22 Honda Prelude VTEC 1992-1996

H22A Honda Prelude SiR (JDM) 1997-2001

    H22A Honda Prelude 1999-2001

    H22A Honda Prelude Type S (JDM) 1997-2001

    H22A1 Honda Prelude 1997-1998

H22A1 Honda Prelude VTEC (USDM) 1993-1996

    H22A4 Honda Prelude (USDM) 1997-2001

    H22A7 Accord Euro-R 2002+

    kinda noobish question but...lol. thanks

pretty sure the h22a7 is the Accord Type-R (EDM) and the Euro-R is just badged as an H22a. not positive tho.

There certainly is a difference! Some H22s only have 190, some over 210 I believe.

what about all that OBD 1 and 2 stuff. Which engine's are 1 and 2, and what exactly has to be done for an OBD 2 engine swap, like electrical wise? Because Iv'e heard it's a bitch.

          Is the Type-S OBD 2?

Would this be the engine to get: http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30016

The JDM H22A from a 92-96 would give you the most power with the least hassle. Since its OBD1 and is rated at 200hp at the flywheel (10 more than the USDM model). Its also a direct swap into our cars. I have it and I love it.

OBD2 started in 96. 92-95 is what you want for an easy swap. You CAN do an OBD2 motor, but there's more involved. Ask h22sparkle He just did it.

The best of the best (the Type S and the Euro R) are OBD2. They both make an estimated 220hp (that has been argued lately... 210-230 has actually been suggested). Either one is good. However, for the price of one of those (unless you find a KILLER deal... ahem...) you can get a regular H22 and modify it. A normal $1200 H22 with $2800 in mods will be faster than a $4000 Type S in stock form... unless you're a total idiot!

To get a regular h22 up to Type S or Euro-R specs you just need to get more aggressive cams and pistons right?

It's like with our f22a4 and f22a6's, change the intake and exhaust manifold, and its up to specs basically.

Well, the Type S is actually made of better stuff... and the machining is a good deal better as well (different valve seat angles and such). But yes, the pistons create higher compression, and the cams are wilder. Some Type S cams alone make a bit of difference in an otherwise stock JDM H22.

Still, with $2800, you can get a full Skunk2 Stage 2 setup that is still perfectly streetable. Some Mahle pistons that work with the H22 sleeves, and some decent rods. That there is about $2800... spend a little more of a good head gasket and installation (be it the tools to do it yourself, or a paid mechanic) and you're good to go!

Ok so the JDM H22a sounds like it's the best deal - 200 hp.

But I live in Ohio, what about E-Check, emissions testing and stuff?

I'm in NJ, probably the second strictest state in the country when it comes to emissions inspection. I paid a shop to push me through. The JDM H22 is probably your best bet... The reliability and power you get for the money is well worth it.

An H22 longblock can be had for about $1200... less, if you look hard enough. Still, www.hmotorsonline.com is the best place. Maybe not the cheapest, but I've NEVER known anyone to have an issue that wasn't quickly resolved when dealing with them! My motor has about 100k on it now, and it's still running strong.

yeah, I want to get the complete conversion from hmotorsonline.

So I shouldn't have any trouble with emissions then. How many years does a car untill you don't have to take emissions tests? is it 20?
