if your ecu was bad for vtec you would get a cel.... i have a p13 that the d11 diode burned out so that managed my car to not run vtec. however i did get the cel from vtec sol. like i said before you are sure that the acutall check engine bulb in the cluster isnt burned out.

just take your time again to check all wires including the extra pins in the ecu wiring.

      Check your oil pan.
If it's dented up, it may be the culprit

I had vtec for almost 2 years... then I bottomed out one day, and lost vtec completely.
Found out it was due to the dents in the oilpan obstructing oil flow from the pickups, and not making it up to the solenoid with enough pressure.

I believe Chris (91hybridaccord) had the same problem, and it was the oilpan dents causing it.

Other than that, I dunno what it could be.

Here's my thread on my similar vtec problem:

yeah im extra sure my CEL bulb isnt burned out.. i had a CEL light a couple days ago.. but i fixed it.. and it comes on everytime i turn the car to accessories.. im pretty sure all the wiring is correct.. i checked it a million times..

hmm.. i looked at my oilpan.. it looks pretty dented up.. how bad was your oil pan? im gonna take a pic and show you guys.. i dont kno if its really that bad.. ill let you guys see.. but ill drain out my oil and take off the oil pan.. and try to hammer out the dents.. see if it'll fix it.. i cant afford to get a new oil pan just yet..

ehh the bad thing is i just changed my oil the other day.. now i gotta do the whole thing over.. haha

^^^ you just swapped in a H22, and u can't afford an oil pan. seriously, spend the extra $100-200 for the new oil pan. believe me, a really bad dented up oil pan isn't only preventing vtec from engaging, but can help in causing to have low oil pressure in the motor.

Haha this is true. Forgot bout the dented oil pan. When i bought mine the place I bought it from gave me a newer non-dented oil pan free of charge.

look at that thread I linked to in my previous post.

I have pics of my dented oil pan in there, and honestly, it didnt look too bad.

but it most certainly was causing my problem.

Yea mine was pretty bad also when i got my motor. Looked like someone took a hammer and just beat the lower left corner in.

the thing is... the places that sell these motors just drop em right on the ground usually, with nothing to protect the botom of the motor

my new oil pan cost me $70 shipped on ebay

                    brand new, oem

Use an H22A OIl pan the F22A oil capacity is different and i dont think it bolts on? I could be wrong. I was going to buy an new OEM oil pan and i think it was around 90-100 from a friend. But yea when i went to look at my motor it was sitting on a broken pallet resting on the pan.

i think the f22 pan will fit, but you're best going with the H22 one, as NAiL01 suggests

well.. i'll compare them side by side and stuff before i even consider buying another one.. dont wanna waste money if i can use a good one from the f22.. later on ill buy a new h22 oil pan.. but not now, if i can just use the f22 one.. i hope this solves my vtec problem

unbolt the solenoid and take the top portion out and just clean it out near the mesh.

its ok to open it up i have done it before.
