Definately isn't fun, but since I'm replacing my IM anyway, I'm gonna do it then.
As far as just getting the inserts instead of filling them: It's easier, faster, and in my case come in red which looks good.

i think they only make red. i want the black one but red was my only choice.

anywho, i want to go inserts b/c i'm very meticulous when it comes to EVERYTHING so if i try and fill them, if urethane doesn't "look" good (even though you won't see it) it'll bother me. i have a slight case of obsessive complusion that everything must be perfect. that's just me !

plus the way i see it, having inserts doesn't produce as much vibration as a fully-filled mount b/c it doesn't get rid of all the excess space, but it does hold a lot better than the stock mount. it's all preference. i plan to keep the rest of my mounts stock to fend off excess vibration. my car is bouncy enough with the darn omnipower coilovers !

Well I still don't have my inserts. No rush, yet. But after much research into rear mounts, I noticed there are 3 different ones for our cars. (Yes, people have pointed out the difference in auto/manual mounts before, but read on, this is about the prothane inserts). So, there's one for auto (all trims) one for manual (EX), and they both look identical except for the solenoid on it, and then there's this one that came with dx,lx with manual tranny. Look at this pic:

If the EX mount had to be different than the DX mount for whatever reason, then why does the auto car use only 1 style mount for all trims?

MRX has some inserts he got a long time ago but he has that odder mount because he has an LX manual. And since Prothane only lists one part number I don't think they'll fit into that other "bigger" style mount. Maybe this is why some people bought the inserts but they or their mechanic couldn't fit them in. Of course I don't have any of this in front of me, so when my insert comes in, I'm gonna go over to Deevs part out car, if it's still there, and see if the inserts go in since it is also a non-EX and a manual. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to get that DX/LX mount for the inserts to work.

nice insight here uslspct. i've seen this already too. the prothane mount is designed for the mount numbered 5 in the diagram above. this means it was only intended for DX/LX manual mounts! i will verify this for you when i install my mounts but i'm pretty sure that's the case.

            summary according to honda:
all EX manuals have mount number 3 (due to the F22a4/6 motor)
all DX/LX manuals have mount number 5 (due to the F22a1 motor)
all model autos have mount number 4

^^^ thats the reason why i'm switching over to a DX/LX manual mount and bracket. the EX models whether auto or manual came w/ oil-filled mounts, totally different design and from the solid rubber mounts and different brackets as well.

Here's a little something though. I bought a 93 ex parts car, 5 spd, and swapped out the rear mount, which wasn't an oil filled mount. And trust me, it was an ex, cuz the rear discs are on my car right now. So how does this come into play?
I filled the rear mount, and timing side mount and am running the prelude front mount/crossmember, w/poly-insert, and still, very little vibration, if any, so I wouldn't really worry about it for those that are considering the mod. L8r

I have rear poly mounts they have to be pushed in pretty hard so the bracket can fit back over the mount. I used a c-clamp to squish both inserts in at the same time. I also did mine when i did my swap so it was much easier.

So I got my rear inserts in today. Now I need a DX/LX rear mount and bracket. I'll be putting it in within about 2 weeks when I swap in my H23 IM.
And it is Urethane not Polyurethane which is indeed harder than the inserts for the front and energy suspensions bushings.
