Everything would have to be custom. There aren't many (if any) transverse mounted engined cars that are RWD. I would venture to say AWD would be easier (I had the idea of using Galant VR4 parts, as it's size is similar.) There was a CB7 on ebay that had a small block Chevy V8 motor in it. That was converted to RWD. Anything can be done for the right amount of money. Double that and it might be reliable enough to drive occasionally...

my idea is to use a driveshaft that is two tubes...i just posted about this on another thread, but still, i like this idea...
use independent rear suspension...like off of a supra or something..so that the rear differential is mounted solid...then get an F20C or something and use the driveshaft hard mounted to the body, along with the hard mounted rear differential...then you don't have anything moving back there that isnt already moving...only thing is the rear arms...but they are already moving as a FWD car...then the problem of motor mounts...but if you have the money for the other stuff...then why worry about custom mounts..i really wanna see someone do this!!!

right, but you need a driveshaft input and a differential...thats what i was sayign would make it easy...our cars are already setup for IRS...so just keep it that way..and the lack of the differential and the driveshaft makes it a simple setup...

                  easy...

find a pro-race fabrication shop that will build you a custom tube frame to fit the cb7 shell. then, have a performance shop build you the motor to accomodate the RWD application that will fit in the custom tube frame. i'm sure there's more to it, but $20k should start you off; be willing to spend more if necessary... then you'll REALLY have what u want.

it would be easier to just mount the motor or another motor in the rear. just have two motors in one car...use the automatics and you can have AWD. then you can run on one...OR two engines...hehe...if you can have two A6 motors...that's 290hp stock. it would add about 600lbs or so...but you make up the hp difference. there's a guy that did it with an oldsmobile...forget which on...had a 3.1L v6 up front and put a 3.8L v6 in the back. just make sure if you run one motor that you put the second one in neutral. just an idea i thought i would throw your guys way.

someone here has put a h22 mounted in the rear of a civic hatch already...so it's more than possible. i would say go with the auto because you can mess less up with that then having two manuals. or you could make one of them manual.
