sup all, i am doing an f20b swap into a 92 lx. im switching over everything from obd2 on the motor to obd1 so it will comply with the motor. i switched the egr valve, dizzy, and injectors. the only problem is that i cant switch the obd2 iacv to the obd1 found on the f22 the holes in the intake manifold are totally different. so what should i do? just use the plug from the obd2 iacv and just find out what wires i need to hook up and use 3 and then just wire the rest of the wires to the ecu? another issue is the drivers side mount on the block, only 2 bolts line up instead of 3, is there a certain mount i need to use instead of the stock f22? please help me out in any way, or form. it would be greatly appreciated. it will be running a p28 chipped with hondata programmed for a f20b.

nice swap
for the obd2 iacv, if the OBD2 iacv plug has 3 wires, cut off the plug(from obd2 harness) that goes on the obd2 iacv; splice/solder that obd2 plug onto the obd1 harness. if that doesn't work, get an OBD1 H22 iacv.
the F22 driver's side mount should be fine. which bolt are you having trouble with ?5.6L V8 32V DOHC

the obd2 iacv is like 5 or 6 wires and the obd1 is 3 or something. i may have a spare h22 iacv, i think i do but we'll see. the drivers side, like timing belt side, there are 3 holes on the block but only 2 line up. i tried using the drivers side mount on the original mount but it didnt work, but i will try to figure something out. yeah man i picked up the motor for $1500, auto tranny, no ecu, harness un cut, no dizzy but it is real clean. another thing is that the map sensor for the f20b is on the throttle body, whereas the map sensor for the car is in the black box on the firewall. could i just block this off or what?

it'll make things easier if you can find that OBD1 H22 iacv; if you have pics of the mount, that would help coz its possible the F20b driver's side mount is different from the H22
about the map sensor on the tb.. i had the same thing when i first got my H22; you can install some type of fitting to accept the vacuum line from the "black box".
i had a friend machine out the holes for a cleaner look. you'll notice the vacuum fitting instead of the map sensor on top of the tb:

do i need the black box in this swap? i found the h22 iacv and i have the black box, but on the accord harness there isnt a plug for the black box and on the stock f22 there wasnt a box (its and lx). if i need it no biggie i'll just wire it in. about the map sensor, im just going to block it off or just do as you did and put a vaccum line in instead. the drivers side mount is different than the stock f22 one but i just threw on the one off of the f22 and called it good. the motor just sits on it, it isnt one of the torque mounts so i think it will be alright, but well see.
i'll post again in a day or so once its in.

at this point in time, im going to use the h22 intake manifold so the iacv will work and be obd1, and the throttle body wont have a map sensor on it. what throttle body is bigger? f20b or h22? what gasket will i need to use for the intake manifold? h22? or f22? any help would be appreciated, TIA.

-F20B (manual) 200hp
-F20B (auto) 180hp besides the tranny, smaller throttle body and less aggressive camshasfts
i'd go w/ the H22 tb if you got one; if not u can always get the F20B tb bored out.
.. and you'll need the H22 IM gasket.5.6L V8 32V DOHC

i got the h22 intake manifold, throttle body, and iacv on the f20b. the h22 gasket fit also. im using the f22 tranny, flywheel, and clutch becuase the car is a manual. but since this motor was an automatic, will it be slow? we got a jdm h22 that was automatic but threw a manual tranny on and threw it into my brothers car and it hauls ass ( he has a 92 ex) but we will just see
are the redlines the same between the auto and manual f20b's?
the ecu is a p28 chipped with hondata for an f20b, so probably for a manual.Last edited by slammedEX; 12-01-2005, 01:09 PM.

well the motor is in! (finally) had to swap so much shit over and we ran into like every problem possible lol. i still have to put the ecu in, wire in vtec, knock and iabs. do i need to wire in the iab? i put the h22 manifold on, so it has the flying saucer thing (thats what i call it) for the secondaries or whatever so will i need to wire that thing in for vtec to work? i still need to extend some wires and bolt in the front and rear mounts, put the axles in, hooksup exhaust and then go from there.

since you're using a chipped p28, no need to worry about wiring up the iabs. you can run a vacuum line from the iab actutor(flying saucer as u said) to any extra vacuum fittings on the intake manifold. good to hear everything is coming along considering swapping the F20b isn't a common swao5.6L V8 32V DOHC

yeah you dont see too many of em, and im hoping this thing will rip. so i can take off the iab black box thing underneath the intake manfiold since i dont need to wire it in? another weird thing, the vtec solenoid, doesnt have a pressure switch, but the place i got the ecu from and motor said that since its hondata you can run it without a pressure switch. but if that doesnt work, i have a spare vtec solenoid. would that go the same for knock sensor?

that switch is one of the factors vtec engages; it helps determine oil pressure for vtec engagement.
i'm sure the f20b doesn't have a knock sensor.. and since you have a chipped p28, that ecu eliminates:

-knock sensor

yeah well the f20b has a knock sensor on the back of the block, but its weird the solenoid doesnt have a pressure switch, there is just a bolt there. but the p28 wont look for a knock sensor since d16z6's dont have one on the back of the block. plus the egr is on the accord harness so i just plugged it in anyways. if i dont have to wire in knock sensor that would make me happy lol. ill just throw that pressure swtich on anyways because the p28 will look for one since the d16z6's have one. the stock header looks like the h22 stock one, so does that mean an h23 downpipe would work with the accord cat? or would it need to be lengthed\shortened? ill take some pics of the motor tonite and post them up! cant wait to drive this

get those pics up already!!! i wanted the F20b myself but not being able to tell whether i got the auto or manual version kinda changed my mind.
reason why there's a bolt there is coz someone took the switch but just plug your switch in and you'll be set to go; and stop worrying about the knock sensor coz your p28 will NOT be looking for that CEL.
directly quoted from the: Complete Swap FaQ *which you should use for reference since the H22 and F20b have their similarities
Exhaust:
For the H22A the USDM 93-96 Vtec manifold will bolt right up to the CB7 Exhaust. However the JDM H22A down pipe seems to have larger flange that will not bolt up to the CB7 cat. You can either cut and weld a new flange or the easiest route would be just purchase an aftermarket header for the 93-96 Vtec Prelude.5.6L V8 32V DOHC
