    C20A - A stock turbo Honda engine

So I was reading around, and I found something I didn't think even existed. This engine called the C20A was found in some JDM Acura Legends around 1990. They were turbocharged from the factory which is something that I thought Honda never did. Supposedly there was some talk about this being in 5th gen JDM Accords, but I'm not sure if it ever happened. So I'm not sure how close this would come to fitting into our cars.

Here is the good news though ... there is one for sale on Ebay. The chassis is a KA5 so for those who are interested http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-H...spagenameZWDVW
I doubt anyone on here would have the balls or know how to do it, but I still thought some of yall would be very interested in this. Just for the record has anyone ever heard of this being swapped into an USDM car or even heard of this engine??

I have heard about this "mysterious" engine before. It's said to be worth a lot due to it's rareity. Thanks for the info.

Just some extra info on it .. I heard the power is 194 hp @ 6000 rpm's, and ~ 175 ft-lbs @ 3500 rpm's. This is a really good deal for a rare engine I just don't have a clue how we could swap it in.

            Hmm..

Why don't we start a new trend in swapping "Rover" motors into our hondas =P Who knows it might be cheaper to get these engines....but wiring...unless it's still very similiar might be a problem.

This is the 2nd time I saw one of these engines for sale on e-bay. Yes it's pretty rare to see but I think these engines were more common in the Euro market. We got the car here as a "Sterling" a somewhat odd looking Sedan powered by a Acura Legend motor however, I don't believe we ever got turbocharged version here? In europe there is a turbocharged version dubbed a "Rover" not exactly a Honda Legend but has a Honda engine. I don't know the exact model name but they have weird model numbers like BMW's. "Rover" X, blah blah.

I think I brought up a thread about it waaaay back in the day. I don't know if u guys remember the "Honda Tuning" or some magazine that had the oldschool Turbocharged Legend? I thought to myself why couldn't he have just swaped this motor in or import a EDM rover motor?

One of these rover "X" models is actually a 94-95 Accord copy. I read somewhere that some came N/A and there's also a turbocharged version. My question is what honda motor copy would be in this particular car? a F-series or non v-tec H series? As for the turbo charged motor, I would definately love to see if this factory turbo engine would swap into our chassis. I haven't seen pictures of this particular engine but it's a 2.0 liter for sure and would probably have a more higher swapability than this C series motor.

The bodylines really kinda resemble it but the only real difference is the tailamps are more rounded off instead of being sharp and the front grille is trying to look classy and expensive and the headlights are flat faced Golf GTI'ish looking.

Some pictures of the Accord Copy.... Look how similar it looks. Even the guage cluster looks very similar to a CD chassis accord.

                    Info Taken from a website

The Rover 620 was introduced in 1993 and produced up to 2000.
The car is basically a Honda Accord or the Accord is a Rover 620 depending on your objectives. Derived only as a four door saloon, which is quite rare in modern car production, it has not been modified into a coupe or even a cabriolet version.
In all models the 620 does compete very well with it's competitors although the Ti doesn't have too many and those in the same range will be more expensive.

The Ti was very much in a class of it's own for some time and even today is very underestimated with a top speed of 141 miles per hour and achieving 60 miles per hour in 7 seconds. Thus competing with the Ford Escort Cosworth, Subaru WRX and world super cars such as the Nissan 300 ZX Turbo, it's no slow coach. These so-called sports cars only do 140 mph and if 140 mph is not impressive, then buy an aeroplane.

The Ti is a very powerful and underestimated saloon but it didn't quite achieve the status it deserved in comparison to the Ford and Subaru. I guess with different marketing and probably a little luck it could have achieved more sales and a bigger following from Joe Public.

It's an all-round car with style and a certain level of class rare in modern cars, it appeals to various age groups and different drivers and can be driven how you like (being a large group of different people with a large range of driving techniques). The Rover will accommodate all.

The Ti's specification is very good - the standard equipment on the models after 1997 features ABS, electric windows front and rear, electric sunroof, air con, performance tyres with light weight alloy wheels, half leather sports trim, full colour coding and much more.

The engine is a four cylinder twin cam 16 valve turbo charged inter-cooled 200 bhp unit which has proven to be very reliable (with the exception of oil leakage on early models which has been rectified by a different modified cylinder head gasket being used).

The gear box is a manual 5-speed unit with a limited slip differential driving the front wheels.

Braking is by means of large, ventilated front discs and standard rear discs with anti-lock being fitted as standard

Driving the 620 Ti is a doddle as the car starts and sounds absolutely normal. There's plenty or torque whilst driving normally and the power develops very smoothly and evenly. The turbo charger is a Garret T2 which has a very small impeller allowing it to spin up to compression speed very quickly and efficiently which almost entirely does away with the turbo lag.

The engine will rev right through the whole range with a great urgency - it's driving skills in the lower gears which dictate the acceleration. Drive is somewhat enhanced with a superb gear box excellent differential and a drive train attached to the monster rubber which tends not to spin, allowing the power to produce drive.

Handling in this car is excellent, with full independent suspension and anti roll bars front and rear the car corners very well and inspires confidence when driving hard which provokes some very high speeds achieved very quickly. This is definitely a car to be respected and which is very forgiving.

Around town handling it's very easy and very well mannered, take this car onto an open road and it will transform itself into a sports machine with the muscle to challenge some of the top so-called performance cars.

I think it would be a bitch to shoe horn a OBDO Turbo V6 into a CB7....now it were a CD5 (V6 Chassis) THAT would be something.

Turbo Equiped version... Engine bay internals like the power steering etc, alternator etc. looks to be swapped over to the other side. It almost looks like it might be trouble like putting a B16 into a Isuzu Impulse.... The size of the engine however looks similar to a H-series motor.

I'm doing some more research on this. I'm trying to find a forum with Rover peepz that have the N/A versions and opting for a engine TI engine swap..... Maybe some people have done it b4 or who knows.... maybe this engine swap isn't possible without major modification. For instance... the 94-97 V6 Accords have a tad bit longer face to accomodate the bigger C series engine as opposed to the 4-banger. Dropping a H22 into a 5th gen Accord v6 chassis is out of the question because of the modifcations involved (mounts, mounting points etc) and vise versa for a C series into a v4 chassis.

With this theory... maybe the Rover models have a different face to accomodate the different motors respectively like the US spec accords.

it looks like it is setup the same way the engine bay of a ford probe is. im referring to the turbo 4 cylinder probes mainly but they are the same deal with n/a cars. i hate probes though, im not sure why...
