I just redid my brakes and in the process replaced the driver's side outer axle.
I went to napa and got a remanufactured axle, that matched to the axle that was in my car previously. The axle that matched was for a 95 accord! I get it in a test drive it. The first corner on my road is a 90 degree right hander. I go into it at about 40mph, and all I hear/feel is clunking/thumping coming from the driver's side front . So I figured that it was either the cv joint being screwed up from napa or the axle was too long.
I asked my local trans shop ( very reputable ) and they said that napa re-manufactured axles were junk, and that I should get a new napa axle. So I did exactly that, I got a new napa axle, put it in, test drove it, and everything felt alright.
Driving to work today, I take a slightly downhill, off-camber 90 degree right hander, at about 30, and what do I hear? That same clunking. Since I put in the new axle, I've maybe driven 150-200 miles. Maybe.
Details on the car:
92 ex coupe

The 95 accord axle is about an inch longer out of the box than an axle for a 92 accord. The 95 axle bolts right up, like it belongs there. wtf?
When the car is on stands, and you put the axle in, should you have to stretch the axle between the half-shaft and the knucle?
Or should it just fit? With a limited amount of play?
AH!!!!! Please some help.
