2.2 Vtec Swap Into 92 Accord Ex

I have a 2.2 VTEC engine to put into my wifes automatic 1992 honda accord EX. What is goin to be the easiest way to put this thing in? Anybody have suggestions and or tips? I've never done a swap before. Will I have to do custom wiring for VTEC, or does the car/ECU already have the proper wires that I need?

    Thanks!!!!

Drop should be a chince..BUT the downside is the wiring...Particularly the ECU if you do retain the current one you have unless you got an ECU with the motor you bought.

yeah i hope you got an ecu with the vtech motor, because that would make install easy...but if not it may take a little longer with the rewiring and etc.

So, if i get the correct ECU, it is plug and play right, with no need to wire extra VTEC wires or anything?

Also, I've heard about fitament issues with the drivers side upper motor mount timing bracket needing to be ground down so the timing belt doesnt hit it. Can anybody give insight to it?

You WILL need to run extra wires because they are not on the wiring harness. The wiring isnt hard as long as you do the wiring with the engine out.

So, no VTEC wiring is needed if I have the correct ECU? Or if I have the correct ECU, I will still need to wire up VTEC? You guys are confusing lol.

Can someone PLEASE provide SPECIFIC wiring instructions for MY MODEL CAR? 1992 Honda Accord EX 4-Dr Sedan with Automatic transmission. I need to know how to wire up VTEC. The link posted above has no SPECIFIC instructions relating to my car.

Also, do I need to remove the transmission, if I plan on keeping the Auto transmission coupled to the new engine? Can I just replace the motor, and disregard the transmission removal procedure in the helms manual?

Also, how long do you guys think the procedure will take, if I dont have to remove the transmission? I've never done a swap or VTEC wiring before, but I've done TONS of motor work.

              Thanks all!!! You're great! :-D

Search, search, and search. In fact you don't even have too.
