    H23 Vtakks swappage

Aightchyall. I ordered me dis hoss to try to put in my cb9 wagoneer. A few thangs I got on my mind as to make this wizzerk...lol I'll stop now.

OBD II to OBD I conversion, and other things.
    - I know I gotta extend my o2 sensor so it goes to the downpipe bung instead of the front of the mani. H22 exhaust mani's don't have one on the front like my LX does.
    - I gotta change the upper intake mani to the OBD I H23/H22 version.
    - Gotta change the bracket on the timing side. I'm not exactly sure which one I need tho some said H23 H22 92-96. Gonna have to hit up my JY
    - Gotta wire in Vtakks, 2 (1 for ground) for the pressure sensor and 1 for the actual Vtec actuator.

I want to know a couple of things. Like if its a good idea to replace all the gaskets and seals on it, and also if removing the balance belt is a good idea.
And also the auto tensioner. I know its gonna be a fresh one cause its a very good looking fresh engine, but should I still do a manual tensioner conversion on it?

    THANK YOU MY NIZZLES

Yes, of course it's a good idea to replace seals. No, it's not a "good" idea to remove the balance shafts and yes, you should replace the auto tensioner with the Kaizenspeed unit. What you should NOT do is come up with some rationale for you to not do these things when everyone with any sense is going to tell you the same thing.

And yes, the timing side mounting bracket from either the '92-'96 Prelude Si (H23A1) or '93-'96 Prelude VTEC (H22A1) will be the one you want. It bolts to the H23A VTEC block and to the CB driver side mount.

Okay dawg, I was just checking. I know there's something up with those auto tensioners since they will leak fluid and fail, so they said to get the H23 non V version which is just a manual version (not gonna pay for the KS tuned version if I can just hit up my JY for it). And when I said remove the balance belt, not the shafts. I know If you remove the shafts then you will have zero oil pressure. I just love how fast my engine spins without them on my F23 bottom end, its crazy how fast it revs. The vibrations can get a bit annoying at idle when it rattles my hood, but its fine while driving.

The H23A1 manual tension is fast becoming the stone-age way of converting to manual tensioner. The Kaizenspeed unit can be swapped in 1 minute with the engine on a stand. Seriously, it's mindless. The H23A1 manual tensioner works, but getting the H22A belt on there afterward is a royal pain. There's not really a readily-available belt that's made to go on it easily. This issue is because of the different size of tensioner pulleys.

You shouldn't really get used tensioners from the junkyard anyway. But that's fine. If it's worth your time to go through the work to take off a crankshaft pulley and pull a timing cover in the junkyard, be my guest.

If you want fast idle, just get a lightweight flywheel.

125 for a little piece of metal, are they joking? And where does it say that you need to use a B18C belt if you use a H23 manual tension setup?

Lightweight flywheel is out of the question. They reduce your drag times and 0-60. So I've heard anyway and the theory behind that makes sense.

There are a few Non VTEC manual tension to VTEC head threads around.(F22/H23 to H22)... if you read through some of them you will see that fitting a stock belt onto this setup is a wee bit tight. The center to center length of the VTEC head is more, plus the tensioner pulley diameter is larger. Add them together and the belt is a bit small.

Where did you read that a light weight flywheel will reduce your 1/4 mile and 0-60 times...

You keep referring to other people said this and that in your threads..... I really wish you would start posting links to the articles that you are reading all this misinformation from. I'm always up for a laugh at the end of a 12 hour shift!

What do you think is it work saving $125 for this?

Why do you keep throwing money away? You refuse to listen to the solid advice given here to you, then go find a picture of the jankiest thing I've seen since this:

You're right, I should get this one instead which is going on ebay. Looks better than the KS tuned one , and at 80 how can you beat it?

I still think the ghetto tensioner is better tho.

It's a bolt and a locknut, it's kinda hard to screw that up. People these days rely too much on pre-made "kits" and are afraid to attempt anything themselves. Meanwhile, companies like Kaizenspeed capitalize on your laziness, making a fortune off taking simple pieces and polishing them up. I'm sure that "ghetto" one you posted works perfectly fine. Take apart your house and you'll find simple screws... just like you find at Home Depot, holy crap!

I used an H22 belt with the tensioner conversion kit from ImportRP. Tight getting it on, but I had no problems.

And a lightweight flywheel lets the engine rev up quicker because of the decrease in rotational mass... would that quicker access to the powerband not translate into quicker acceleration, however small a change that might be?

*ED. - http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/flywhee...heel_works.htm. So my logic looks to be true, but it sounds like it'd be more useful for road course and autocross though, where you're going up and down the whole rev range. Dragging is all top-end, which is like the 'constant revs' this guy talks about in dyno runs.

that tensioner is badass i would have done that if i would've thought that far ahead..next time though.

That's not a bad idea. I don't know how well it will hold up be it's cheaper than buying the crap online I see like KS and the other ebay one.

It didn't look harmfully intended in the least, and that word has lost all historical meaning thanks to rap and the kids that try to mimic that lifestyle. Was the ban really necessary, instead of a friendly warning?
