Is there anything you can do to hold them accountable?

I doubt it since I opened it up.

Do you have video that shows, undoubtedly, you opening it for the first time? You should at least let them know... who knows, maybe they'll surprise you.

          I'll try that, thanks.

            UPDATE:

The tranny, clutch and flywheel are in!

Holy shit balls! Even though I still cant go crazy with it, because of the 400 mile break in period. It feels fucking awesome! Smooth clean shifts, definitely noticeable more aggressive gearing, improved cornering and f22 5th gear fuel economy.

The install took a really long time because of the diff and few other issues that came up. But overall it was a straight forward affair. Except for one thing.

Drove 30 miles with the new setup last night. Parked the car, admired our work and then passed out asleep. Woke up in the morning and found my car had wet the carpet like a puppy. A large puddle of oil underneath the tranny!!!!! First reaction, FUCK I must not have sealed the housings together properly, or I cracked the housing some how!!!!!!!! No worries, it turns out I didn't seat the passenger axle completely in to the housing. I will refill it later tonight and test drive it again. I feel the worst case scenario is that I also need to change out the seal.

I refilled the tranny and test drove it this morning. No leaks to report. Looks like I was right, that it was just the axle not being completely seated in the tranny. Also drove it to work (20 miles) and still no leaks.

Did any of you feel the need to adjust the shift cable lengths after a H tranny swap?

Lastly, its really cool to feel power go to both wheels in a hard corner.

^Nice, awesome progress, maybe one day I'll be able to do what you've done I'm not sure if your CB is a 90, but 91-93 shift cables are static/fixed lengths and are unadjustable. But the 90 main cable attached to the shift lever itself uses a threaded rod end, which you can shorten/lengthen when necessary. Maybe the other cable (90) is the same way, not sure I've never had the chance to mess around w/ 90 shift cables either. But years ago changing from an H2U5 (CB EX) to M2B4, I saw no change in the actual shifter feel, if that makes sense. The cable holds and related connections should be at all the same exact points. Do you feel a difference in the shifter feel or engagement?

Regarding your question of the shift cables, mine were just fine, did not need any adjustment.

90 miles in and still feeling good.

Yes its a 1990 and both cables are adjustable (see pic below).

I have a feeling its just my shifter cables. Maybe after so many years they have stretched enough to become noticeable. On rare occasions, this was revealing itself before the swap. But now it has become somewhat more noticeable. I will adjust them this weekend and also install the Corsport bushings.

On a side note: Head gasket is done. Its had a minor combustion leak for a couple of months now. But I found a couple droplets of oil in the coolant this morning. Rebuilt head has been ordered and will go in soon.

Also I finally received the 25x35x2 shims. I'll try them out this weekend on my spare tranny.

                      Glad things are working out!

As for the shift cables, and I'm sure you're already aware, the adjustments you make in length directly affect how far the shift/select components move. I know the cable specs for the manual transmissions are in the factory service manual, and I expect you can find the same for the "H transmissions" (M2B4). To be certain you'll have to do the math, take the differences, and make sure your cables match up to your calculated numbers. I have a feeling though that the differences are negligible, if any at all. If there are differences, I expect they're on the shifter end of things (how far the throws are), as the transmission side look nearly if not exactly identical.

Also, you say you've got issues with shifting/cables: what issues do you have?

340 miles and everything is still feeling good.

I was over thinking things. The shifter cable bushings were no bueno. I replaced them with the Corsport set and everything is fine now.

Didn't get a chance to try out the shims. Will try next weekend.

Found a pic I hadn't posted before. Sexy

                          630 miles and feeling good.

MTF was changed at 500 miles and no metal found in oil or magnetic drain plug. Everything is shifting nicely.

I will say, that I feel like such a noob driving my cb7 lately. I'll admit that I've stalled it maybe 7-8 times since the swap. I've been driving this car for 17 years now (purchased it in 1996) and as you can imagine, I've grown very accustom to driving it a certain way. I'll adapt soon enough and take it to a drag strip after I install the rebuilt head.

So I test fitted the shim I got for the CS and as you can see in the pics below it fits perfectly. So if you have the h2a5 5th gear set that you want to swap into a m2s4 tranny then you can order the same shim to make it work. 25x35x2 #8 in the following link (http://www.2wheelpros.com/oem-parts/...-assembly.html).

or just use the 2mm taller f23/f22 gears I listed before.

I will consolidate my notes/findings and add them to the Notes post on the first page in the coming weeks.

Lastly, I finally found a h22 tranny to dissect. I thinks its a m2y4. And, It appears to be in rebuildable shape. I may video myself rebuilding it next year. But before then, I will take measurements and see if my theory that the h2a5 5th gears will fit h22 trannys without modification. But, its going to be a couple weeks before I can drive over to pick it up.

Please understand that, while they may not be commenting, there are many people viewing this thread and are enthralled by the information you're assembling. I'm one of them. I've got an M2F4 that I want to rebuild with my M2U5 5th gear and final drive and have an M2A5 5th gear set as well as another M2U5 to pick parts from. This thread will be very helpful once again when I finally get around to doing work on the transmission.
