You bought the entire engine from RockAuto? I've never known anyone to do that. I didn't even know they sold engines!

You could accomplish this for much cheaper. Go get an engine from a junkyard that spins freely and replace all of the external seals. It will already have the oil pump and distributor along with it. Once it's on a stand you can replace all the gaskets as well. Then you only need to pull the old engine, prep the bay, modify your old harness and then install the engine. All told you could be looking at $1200 installed with lots of quality parts to freshen the engine up. Bump that up $1500 and you've just accounted for a hoist and engine stand from Harbor Freight.

To deev no, I will get it from a local place with free shipping to local residents. Though Rock Auto do sell long blocks when I was looking for the parts, but for more than what it should ever cost.
To Jarret, the problem is finding an H23 in a junkyard. The only Preludes around I have seen are F22. If I could find it in a junkyard that would be preferable.

You could probably get a whole motor for cheaper than that. I bought mine with a M2S4 for $250.

          You should check this out...

For $250? What kind of condition?

Yep, found it on Craigslist a couple years ago. I have yet to dig real deep but I
have taken the valve cover off and everything was pretty clean. I plan
to do a full rebuild on it so just mainly needed a decent base to start with.

So I might be getting this done sooner than I thought. I am working with someone to trade their H23 with one of my guns plus some cash. The engine comes with wiring harness and has been cleaned up and I believe timing components were replaced. So I shall see what will happen this week.

I would still plan on a gasket and seal kit and replace all of the rubber components.

Still plan on it but I will not have to buy clutch or oil pump and it should only cost $800 for long block. I am considering throwing in the extra cash for transmission too but only to resell it, unless there is a custom mount that I can but because I am incapable of doing the drilling and tapping myself.

Keep the transmission and YouTube how to tap a hole. The material is aluminum so be careful and make practice runs on another useless part before trying on the transmission.

The transmission will give you better performance for that specific motor.

There are custom mounts as well, ESP and Hasport has them.

I know how but I have no tools to do so.

Worked out a deal, engine and transmission for $350 + rifle. Should have it on Saturday.

I don't even know if I'd spend $350 on an H23A1, much less include a rifle. I hope it's in amazing condition.
