    Tapping is cake, kit is 20$ harbor freight like Jarrett said. Drill and tap a few holes on scrap metal so you get the feel for it. It won't be the most difficult part of the swap. Take your time, keep the exact angle going in and out and back up every turn or so to keep it clean.

    Just remember the transmissions for our cars used are easily had for under 100$, and if the clutch is original and you aren't even going to look at it you risk it being trashed and having to pull the tranny back out. Usdm high miles, anything less than an h22 is not worth much even clean, don't be oversold just because its harder to find in your area.

      I just now realized that the holes are already drilled in. I might just keep the transmission on there. How should I store this engine without a engine hoist or stand because I will be with out a lift for awhile.

        I place motors and transmissions on wood on my shop floor.

          Me too.

          I use a combination of tranny jacks, engine puller and floor jacks to get just about anything done in my shop.

          OP;

          Tapping a hole is easy. If you don't feel comfortable with it, take it to a machine shop. $20-$50 tops. Get it done right though. Seriously, do it right. Don't ditch the tranny over this.

          This is an easy fix.

            What I meant by keep the engine on there is put the H23 transmission on there. I have a problem with saying the wrong things.

              H23a1 is not really a hybrid swap, 2-3 steps more and you have your self a better engine, hardest part for me was making the prelude steering pressure line fit around the rear crossmember.

                Also with this purchase comes an H23 wire harness. Will I be able to plug it directly in in place of the F22 harness? I don't want to have to ruin the F22 harness in case I want to sell the engine or drop it in something else.

                  If it is an obd1, I think you can use the harness you have without cutting anything. Just check the distributor, you might have to change one wire on the dist itself but that should be it.

                    But I need to wire up the knock sensor which should require me cutting the H23 clip off and modifying the F22 harness. I would like to keep both harness the way they came if possible.

                      You're going to need to modify your harness. The connectors that attach the harness to the chassis harness are different so you'll need to use your F22A4 harness on the H23A1. Also, you're going to need to use your internal coil F22A distributor's insides to convert the H23A1 distributor to internal coil to match your harness. You've got other options, but that's cheapest. Just cut the connector and sensor from the H23A1 harness and integrate it into Accord engine harness. I know you don't want to but the world won't end and it will be fine.

                        You can also remove the knock board on the ecu you use for the h23a1

                          So my F22 distributor is not in the greatest shape. It might be best to buy a different distributor. Would I be able to buy a H22 internal distributor and it will work fine right out of the Prelude it came in? The more I read on the topic the more questions I have. Another reason I do not want to use my current F22 distributor is that all the H23 engine prep work needs to be done before I start pulling the F22 out. I still need to drive this car before the install so the least amount of down time the better.

                            Got the engine coming in tomorrow. It is ready to dropped into a Prelude, gaskets, timing belt, the whole thing minus fluids. It however needs more to be Accord ready so just thought I would let you know. Still will reserve skepticism for anything else needed to be replaced but I am sure it is good. Also can I hook up the Knock Sensor plug to the F22 harness while the F22 engine is still in place without it throwing a CEL? Like I said I need the least amount of downtime as possible and I want to prepare as much as I can without affecting the drivability of the F22 while in use.

                              Yay, it is here! Huge bitch getting it loaded into the garage. Could not get the lift so we had to carry it out by hand.

                              So I am going to do all of the gaskets and need a new crank pulley bolt. Chipped it, my bad. Few things here and there. Will need a knock sensor too since it is missing the part that the clip goes into. Have the wire harness. Need the ECU and the center shaft since it is a bit "off". Intake manifold needs a cleaning. Hell, I might put it into my car temporarily. Half way there.
