jdm h22a cam to crank timing

I did the manual tensioner conversion

So the problem i'm having is i don't know much about the motor
OBX cam gears (5 bolt)Blue in color
The cams could be aftermarket (guy down the street said the lobes look big)

If I pin the Cams (offset middle) they dont line up with each other, off by almost 1 tooth

when i put the crank at tdc and have the belt on, the crank wants to spring back a tooth. Even if i spring the crank to tdc and have a friend pry up the timing tensioner and lock down the shaft bolt & tensioner bracket. I tried 2 different timing belts.

The crank gear is stamped P13

Has anyone had a similar problem?

Does anyone in Denver or Colorado have experience with H22 timing issues?

    feel free to txt me

Doing a swap in your only car sucks when things dont work

Ok, when you noticed that the timing gear would spring back a tooth, this time before putting the t-belt on, have it a tooth before then when you go to put the belt on, it'll spring right on TDC! Don't line both cam gears dead on; otherwise, they won't line up once the crank gear is TDC, get it? It's a puzzle you'll need to figure out.

My H23 manual tensioner conversion setup does this all the f*cking time. Lol.

      Thanks man

Ended up getting a buddy with a crx b18 swap to come over and help.
only took us 2 tries lol made it so much fucking easier with 2 people

one of the problems was the intake cam was springing about 1/2 a tooth
sprung it over as he slipped the belt over the crank and tensioner pulley and rotated it 4 times and it all lined up!

If i ever have to do the timing belt again I'm switching to the kaizenspeed manual tensioner just to make it easier if I'm doing it by myself. And switching to either stock cam gears or something else, the OBX ones are lousy.

I did mine by myself but it wasn't fun. You can also try loosening the cam caps/journals to allow the gears to drop just alittle that's what we do on B's sometimes. They're ain't nothing fun about it. Nobody said getting gains was easy.
