What is your budget for this build?

however much i need - why?

I have at least a year to save, plan, and acquire parts - because I'm gonna do this right and do it all at once

plus it's gonna be a year until the 98 is payed off and I can legally take the motor out of it

yeah, well I'll do it as inexpensive as possible, but I'm gonna make sure it's done right -- no matter what motor, I had already had plans to redo the interior and exterior of the car; when we started talking about the J32/J35 my husband will be dropping into his car next summer we started wondering what to do with HIS motor ... so here we are now

but my car also has NOTHING aside from daily maintenance and an intake done to it ... so i have no pains over money wasted on parts I don't need anymore - and since i want to redo the body, and my suspension is of questionable history and needs redoing anyway... well you can see things already have added up because doing two cars at once is not a cheap thing to do ... but it's what we do

practicality isn't necessarily the question here - if i wanted easy/practical/help i need i need a new motor what's a good quick fix.... well i'd be dropping in an H22 or something simple - ...thanks for the mental image on some guy with a dick on his neck. by the way -- my evening was pretty dull otherwise

and my current F22 drives as well as the day I bought her, probably as well as the day the first owner bought her - so I'm in the market for something different, not something to fix a problem I already have

as for my opinion on J30 block - i don't think it's lackluster. I will say that in the stock cg22, which we all know is heavier/bigger than the cb7, this block lacks the torque to give such a nice car the go power it deserves but imo, it's still a strong motor, and. like i said before, I'm not building a racecar

good mention on the tranny clearance, btw, thanks - I'm looking into it; it was something at the back of my head, but when you brought it up it really made me wonder

once i get some good sketches of the body done I'll be posting some to get your thoughts, and once again, thanks so much for the support and advice, everyone--

meanwhile, I got bored and went out to measure the cars -- firewall to fan, they're both the same size inside the bay and width-wise they're almost exact (the 98 has about 2 inches on the 93) ... i didn't get to measusre the depth... but this at least was a little ray of sunshine

I was just gonna post that! I went home this weekend and measured my mom's bay. The width between the shock towers is within about 3/4" and the length is also within 3/4 of an inch. It seems generally that the bays are approximately the same size, although by my very rough gauge, the CB measured slightly larger in some ways.

If you think about it, it actually makes sense because although the V6 block is wider, you don't have the intake manifold hanging off to one side, and the exhaust manifolds tuck under the heads, so the overall package is only negligibly wider. It is also shorter, because the block is 3 cylinders long instead of 4. I don't think it will be as difficult as some think, but that is just my .02. I will measure more when I do her next oil change.

its looking like I can do the swap itself for 3-4k custom mounts and suspension included... I've been talking to people

my interior will prob. be the most expensive and my body work/paint the cheapest
                (relatively speaking)
and that's really not a lot considering what I'm doing

so Im really getting excited -- gotta hit the books hard and start saving, maybe this means i need a job for the meantime : ( but i know it'll be well worth it in the end

measurement seem to be similar so it sounds like if its going to be done...good luck with that and if you need any help, you know how to get in contact with me. i'll show you what i mean about making the vents on the front bumper functional the day of the meet...i'll give you all my input there. also, you could try and check out veilside's website since all there kits have functional vents to improve cooling and lower drag...see how they design there front bumpers (some are a bit extreme though) to get some ideas.

This thread is from March... and I know Cass has gotten VERY busy since then. Also, I don't even think she has a CB7 anymore. She had an F22B DOHC in there, but ended up selling everything before even getting it on the road, I believe...

So to answer your question... no, I don't think she's going to do it.

                        I still think a J30A with a K24 tranny would PWN.

I'm still wondering if the NSX C30 would drop into the older FWD V6 Honda products... The NSX has the motor in the back, so it would probably be just as capable of running the front wheels if placed in the front (I know... totally off topic..)

Actually, I thought there was link on here about it. I am not sure if the whole motor swaps over, or if the heads do, but there is one guy on here who claimed to have seen it on a 5th gen Accord.

I would almost suspect that you could bolt the C30 or C32 to the Accord driveline with little modification. I do believe that the 1st gen Lengend 5 speed will swap into one of those...

The Legend C and NSX C are like the Accord F and the S2000 F...not at all interchangeable. Plus the shift linkage would be a major issue.

A Type-II motor with a 1st gen Legend 5-speed tranny would PWN as well. Good luck even finding a 5 speed Legend though.

Apparently that isn't true, if what that one kid said.

I remember reading something published a long time ago that mentioned it being based on the Legend V6. It is one of those theories I would prove if I had the money.

Someday if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Also, personally, if I were going to do anything with the Type-II, I would just go with a 2nd gen Legend.
