    H22 Swap N2 '91 Accord

yes i know this has already been asked but i need to know 4 my own info. when i swap a H22 in my accord what is it that i need out of the 'lude to put n2 my accord. i know the ECU defintly has to go, but would the tranny fit n my accord? do i swap it out for the 'lude's tranny? do have to take the front axle from the prelude and replace my accord axle? and when i order turbo's and other engine parts(i know this is goin 2 make me look like the village idiot) do i order prelude parts(like exhaust, turbo manifold, ect..,)?

If you plan to turbo the car hang on to your accord tranny. It's better with a boosted H22. With the H22 tranny I understand you go through the gears way to quick. The prelude tranny is excellent for NA motors. Minor modifications will be necessary to stall the H22 tranny on the passanger side. You will find the bolt patterns don't line-up.

As for axles, use your accord axles. All engine parts will be ordered for the H22/Prelude when the swap is done.

Performance axles will handle the the additional HP. Search the net for the performance axles that handle the HP you're attempting to make.

OBD I is the abbreviations for your "on board diagnostics system"..I signifies that you should have one OČ sensor. this is an important thing to consider when swapping a prelude motor into your car. your car is obd I if its a 4th gen accord (although i have heard some 90's were obd 0)

so OBD is just basicly ur O2 sensor? so if i hav a '91 accord then what gen do i hav?(WARNING!! MAY BE STUPID QUESTION!!) and what about the VTEC controller? which 1 do i get? engine mounts. do i keep the ones i hav or do i hav 2 get orther 1's b/c of the H22?

its not just your OČ sensor..i was just giving you the simplest answer...you sould reread the complete swap guide, im not sure you are grasping what it is telling you. you might want to consider having someone with more experience or a professional doing the swap for you. as for V-TEC...depends on your car..but again im going to have to refer you to the swap guide its got a lot of very very useful info. if you need clarification on certain info try doing a search on the material there is a lot of info on this site that is just search query away.

for a transmission, i would reccomend an H23 tranny, we went through this whole discussion on accord tuner once, i had recommended an f22 tranny at the time but then realized that due to the fact that you would shift out of 1st somewhere near 50, an h23 with shorter ratios (shift out of first at around 40ish?) might be a little more advisable. the reason the h22 tranny goes through gears so fast is its awesome final drive ratio. the f22 tranny is geared more towards gas milage, and for f22 turbos its awesome cuz of the engines really low redline. the h23 tranny will give you more time to spool the turbo, but you wont be stuck in gear forever. if your not going turbo, got the h22 tranny w/ LSD, one of the best you can buy

Why wouldn't the stock Accord tranny be able to support the additional HP? The internals are almost identicle and in most cases interchangeable. The exception is the M2B4 JDM Prelude which has larger shift forks, selector rings and LSD.

For the axles, the strongest set-up is to use the Prelude intermediate shaft with the female inboard joint of the Prelude as well. Combine this inner joint with the Accord shaft and outer joint. It is a messy job, but really easy to do.

Really this has more to do with replacing the weak intermediate shaft that the Accord comes stock with. The Prelude shaft is MUCH stronger.
