                Yessir. The open deck design is great for cooling, but not as strong. That's where people often get a "block guard"... which is essentially a piece that fits into that opening (usually just at the top)... block guards suck.

                Most open-deck engines are converted to closed deck when they're resleeved and built for high horsepower applications.
