"First Civics appeared in 1973, with sporty S models first appearing in 1983. The Civic Si (for Sport injected) arrived with the new body style in 1986. It quickly joined a host of small performance cars and hatchback, affectionately known as 'pocket rockets.'"

i dont agree with the naming for si but i did know that the i in si stood for injected . . .

si stood for sequeincal( mispelled) injection. notice the period. cause thats it and i think ol dude got confoosed instead of vx it should be hx it has a vtec-e motor thats different becasue it runs on 2 valves per cylinder then at a little over 3k opens to 4 valves and the cam changes liek in normal vtec motors.... the ex lx and dx i dont think stand for anyhting other thena way to distinguish features dx=nothing lx= nice ex=loaded i have an ex

The first Gen Vtec-E was introduced in the VX Hatchbacks. 1992-1995.
For the new redesigned 1996 Civics, Honda came out with a better Fuel Economic V-Tec. This was found in the HX Coupes. HX's came with Alloy wheels, Spoiler, and power windows and A/C.

SI stands for sequential injection. Like I stated earlier. and RS does not stand for rally sport it stands for Road Sailing. Sounds stupid I know but this is what it it means. It was meant to indicate the sportiness of the car.(Funny japanese guys)

http://www.allpar.com/neon/neon-srt-4.html..... read the part about..."SRT-4 is based on the standard SRT name given, confusingly enough, to vehicles modified by the PVO Group - that's Performance Vehicle Operations. SRT originally stood for "Street and Racing Technology" but now stands for "Strip, Road, and Track" - similar to the old R/T designation which seems to have been abandoned. "
