    H22a or H23a

HI GUYS. I AM SERIOUSLY THINKING ABOUT DROPPIN IN A JDM H22A IN MY 90 ACCORD. I AM STILL SHOPPING AROUND. FOUND A FRONT CLIP IN L.A. FOR $2865. BUT I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS. I HAVE SEEN AN H23A THAT I AM INTERESTED IN ALSO.
IS AN H23A A DROP IN FOR A 90-93 ACCORD?
IF I GO WITH THE H23A. WHAT ALL DO I NEED FOR THE SWAP.?
AS FOR THE JDM H22A SWAP, WHAT ALL WOULD I NEED APART FROM THE MOTOR, TRANNY, ECU, WIRE HARNESS AND AXLES TO MAKE THIS SWAP?
DO I NEED VACCUM HOSES AS WELL??.
YOUR EXPERTISE IN THIS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.....

      thanks for the info.
There is a (BLUE-TOP) H23A V-Tec DOHC 2.3L on ebay for sale and the seller claims it to be from JDM Honda ACCORD SIR and produces 215 Hp. I haven't seen this motor on your list. Where does this motor come from and is it a drop in for my 90 accord?
If anyone has this in their accord, please give some inputs as to what all i would need for this swap, if i choose to go with this.
      thanks,

Its a drop in besides the tranny. h23a vtec has a awd trans. Get the h23a and a h22a with lsd and you will be good for the day. It drops in like butter.

OR if you have an F22a 5 speed trans go ahead and bolt it together to the H23 vtec and your set :-P

No. There are no AWD transmissions for the H series, and I don't believe the H23 EVER came in VTEC (without an H22 head being swapped onto it.) I'd like to see a reliable source that says otherwise.

The blue top actually makes 200hp... I WOULD NOT buy one from ebay though! The Accord Si-R motor is a good motor, but it's a bit peakier than the H22, I believe. For the price, unless you're going into a racing class that demands 2.0L or less, the H22 is better all around.

All H and F motors have interchangable transmissions. The Non-VTEC motors like the H23 need no special wiring, and are a little bit easier to drop in because of it. The extra wiring for the H22 is a small price to pay for 40 more hp!

I too agree with that. The wiring, at least for just the motor, is a peice of cake.

Thanks for the input guys. I have decided to go with the H22a. I have seen some swaps for sale on ebay. The best seller seems to be enginesus with 100% feedback. They just don't sell the wiring harness with their swaps. Otherwise their feedbacks from their buyers seems really good. But to save me trouble from wiring, i've decided to get the whole front clip. Your comments are welcome.
                  thanks,

blue tops are NOT h23a's though...they're f20b's or generic valve covers on h22a's or something......the ONLY blue top h/f series was f20b.....and the auto version made 180hp......kinda weak

the block code for the 2.3 liter DOHC VTEC engine is H23A and they have BLACK valve covers from the factory...anything else is custom.....the AWD setup would be very hard to adapt.....you'd have to use CD parts and redo everything attached to it and bolt it up to the chassis......the AWD setups were only AUTOMATIC though

i did a write up a year and a half ago on it...in the swaps section...here....http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...=&threadid=523
Oh yeah! I completely forgot about the 4wd wagons! Doh! Thanks for the correction fizz! I haven't seen anything about those in a LONG time (since the beginning of the board here, I believe!)

Shipping from Canada for the front clip is $480. Shipping from L.A for the Front Clip is $500. Nippon Motors is letting me go down there and pick it up myself. Them Front Clip is $2650 +tax. I figure it'll total out to be around $3000 for my swap. And again i might just buy the swap from enginesus and save myself $600. They seem to be a reputable dealer on ebay. Plus they are willing to match any price on ebay. My total from them would be $2410 including shipping....is that a deal or what.

If you're looking to spend about $2400 shipped for a full swap (not the clip) then go with www.hmotorsonline.com. That's what mine cost me, and I would trust them over anyone. There are a good number of people on here that got their swaps from them... more from HMO than any other single place!
