not really any updates, because I am stuck on the front sub frame ATM until I hear back from flatline, because I am having him measure his on his 240, and if they are nearly the same size I will be buying one and making it fit the car, then cutting the ends off the rear one and installing them to hold the LCA's and steering rack, I tried making a few different sub frames but couldn't get it just right, and a fellow member suggested(can't remember who though) that I try a 240 front, which it didn't even cross my mind to try lol, so once I hear back from flatline, I will know if i can use one or not, well thats all.....told ya not really an update

Im telling you you've got to start in the rear. The rear end has got to get put together and bolted into the car, perfectly, before anything you are doing in the front is going to matter.

What issues are you running into with the rear sub frame?

Sounds like your hitting a wall. Maybe its time to rethink the approach.

I know you wanted to keep this in the premium section, but for the sake of completion maybe you should post elaborate pics of what your working with, and write a very detailed msg of what you are trying to accomplish and what your having problems with.

Then, we as the community can brainstorm and help you through this.

              Good luck

If it were me, I would be trying to re-work the OEM subframe, cutting and modifying/bracing/welding to fit. That would atleast be my inspiration/starting point. The geometry for the 240 in the front end will be different, bolt patters will be different, and cutting the ends off a sub frame and re-welding on another isnt the greatest idea. They could be different composites of metal, Id almost bet on it. Anyways, getting a good weld on something like that will be a bitch if even possible and failure of the weld could destroy all of this.

Even if you have to hack the OEM subframe to a point of no return, and then use what you come up with as a template to build something thats actually strong enough to work-It'd be worth it. How else are you going to get the car to drive straight and safe without using more of the OEM setup.

Personally, and I mean no disrespect, but this is where shit gets hard and people give up. Its time to start thinking outside the box if you really want this to come together.

I stand by my original point, you have to start with the rear end. If its not 100% complete, nothing your doing on the front is going to matter.

When I was planning on doing this with my 86 Accord hatchback (glad I didn't, because this is far beyond my current abilities...) the 240sx route was what I had planned as well. Essentially, I was going to install the 240's "engine bay" (essentially, the firewall, and "tub"), as well as the 240's rear subframe.

Mike, from the sounds of your plan, you're doing much what I had in mind... and the reason I abandoned my project was that i was going to end up with a 240sx that looked like an Accord hatchback (and essentially, I could just buy a 200sx for that!)

Toycar: no diff is all for the rear but have another on the way, also you do realize the engine mounts for the rb are in the middle of both the front 2 cross members that's why I've decided to give the 240 one a try, and I never said I was going to cut the ends off the oem accord one and weld them to the 240 one, I am thinking of cutting the ends off the rear one with the steering rack and bolting them in their oe location so I can still use the oe location for the LCA's and I hope the steering rack will fit under the engine next to the bell housing for the trans, but I am doing the rear first just no diff like I said before, I was stuck as far as ideas I just didn't put that in my last post

Deev: yea true, but that sounds like a lot of work haha, but then again mine is taking a lot of work also

also, I may be keeping my oem jdm front end, the treadstone TR10 intercooler may be thin enough to allow me to keep it, which I kinda want to do now, give it more of a sleeper status
