yea...... you might as well go ahead and rebuild by the time you get the head off... its alot easier working on the motor outside the car... or just pick up a spare f22 block so you still have something to drive..

I greatly appreciate all this useful info!!!

I am gonna do this swap after I p&p the h23a head. I have a question though, I have an A6 p&p IM and it seems to line up fine with everything, but will this work? and what ecu would I use for this?

        thanks

a6 will work... kinda like the h23... i dunno... you could proibly get away with a p14 from a prelude (what i'm running) but that's only temp. till i get the modded p06

So Has Anyone Here Got The Swap Up & Running Without Overheating or blowing a Headgasket, cause by looking at the two original photos of the engine blocks I cant see any similarities apart from both having 4 Cylinders???
            Clue me in here lads..

In all honesty though how much power gain would something like this net? I don't know that you took it to the dyno aftewrwards or anything. Lets say I had the stock F22 SOHC. And I did one of the hea dswaps, either the H22 or H23. Roughly what kind of gains could this have. I looked through the thread and didn't see anything like that. I didn't read each individual post but I skimmed over most of them. I was just curious. Say I can pull off roughly 200hp with just a normal H22 swap. What would I be looking at with just the head swap for the 22/23?

i would be guessing a 160hp like a f22b for the non vtec head swap. but that's at the flywheel. putting a h22 vtec head will put out about that to the wheel.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the VTEC need some kind of oil line in the block to actually engage it (meaning the VTEC)? So I can't really see many added benefits of using just the head. If you get the head, then look for the block and drop that sucker in there like it's hot!

word... and i don't think i've heard of a headswap overheating and warping the head or blowing a headgasket..... maybe if you didn't put the head on in teh right sequence or something...

so the head swap raises compression a slight bit...both non vtec and vtec...goes from 8.8:1 to 9.1:1...from what i read. not only that but you get a better flowing head. hmmm...i'm liking this swap more and more...hahaha. there's a guy in town that has a non vtec prelude that i think he's going to swap...i should see about getting his motor. so is the whole h23 motor just like this head swap...just drop in. and plug and play...changing the ecu of course...????

I can get a f20a dohc head for 115 buck... I've heard the head is the same as the h23. But i just want to confirm if it'll be the same... and right now i have a f22a6 head and i dont want to lower the performance... do you think it worth a try? And since i already have my turbo setup (waiting to be installed) will it increased the compression too much?

No. At best your compression will reach 9.2 CR.
