If it's a US 1990-1993 Accord it has the F22Ax motor.

    Either F22A1, F22A4 or F22A6.

        step 1. open your hood
step 2. look to the left of the exhaust manifold and below the coolant neck
step 3. clean all the road grime and other random nastiness that has likely covered your engine number plate.
step 4. read the plate. it will say f22a1, f22a4, or f22a6. if you have a 90-93 dx or lx, it will say f22a1. if you have a 90-91 EX, it will say f22a4, if you have a 92-93 EX, it will say f22a6. i have no clue what it would say if you have an SE or 10th aniversary.

and dont be jealous of your girlfreind's vtec, it is cheap, crappy economy vtec. your head is WAY better than hers (but i hope for your sake that only pertains to motors )

          Most likely the F22A4.

there all kinda of swaps. Check out the Swap FAQ. It's stickied. You've been here a while, you should know this.

          H22, H23, F20B, F22B, F23....to name a few.

She has VTEC in a 95, yes, but it's not that much more horsepower. If memory serves, the 94-97 Accords had Single-cam F22B1 or 2 engine making 145 or 130 HP respectively. Compare this to the different motors in our Accords with the F22A1, 4 or 6 engine pushing 120, 130 and 140 HP respectively and overall there is little difference. Her powerband is probably more favorable, making power well passed 5400 RPM (Our achillies heel, IMHO). VTEC isn't everything and taking the time to research a bit goes a long way with this stuff. Chances are your engine isn't making close to it's factory horsepower now anyway. Either rebuild the engine and grab a turbo, swap in an H22 or attempt to build a legit, all motor F22. Remember the car triumvirate though: Powerful, Reliable, Cheap; You can only have 2.

On a side note, reading your post gave me headaches. Please try to use proper punctuation and complete sentences.

                    93 lx = f22a1 unless it's been swapped.
