Sounds like engine is not buring gas correctly.

You will need to get exhaust gas test..
Too much HC = ignition problem
(Ignition Coil, ignitor, Spark plug, Spark plug Cable etc..)

Too much HC, CO = fuel related problem

    Sorry for the bad english..

make sure everything is correct, double check your spark plug wires, check your plugs, get a noid light and test your injectors, check your timing... check your valve adjustment... start there, its misfiring pretty bad. also, for the meantime, remove your o2 sensor to try and minimize damage to the cat.

There's the PROBLEM! Your cat is clogged and probably welded itself together inside. Disconnect the cat from the downpipe and then start it up, I bet it'll run great.

Check your timing, if the timing is off, or jumped timing it can cause the engine to run rough and load up the header and catalytic converter with unburned fuel and/or gases that can your header to glow.

I agree with clogged cat...disconnect the exhaust and run open header and see if that solves your problem....Gonna be loud but it will tell you immediately if something is stuck in the exhaust stream.

Hmm... That is interesting. What ECU are you using, chipped or P13. I agree with the cloggedness... i destroyed my flex pipe, inverting the inside steel mesh... the resulting clog caused the flex pipe to go red hot, then litteraly shit itself out of my header, luckly i was running open pipes so i could see the mesh hanging out and quickly fixed it.

this happened to my friend's Envoy. It was a clogged cat, but being a newer car the ecu put it in limp mode. Replaced the cat and all was good.

I recommend unbolting the cat like stated earlier, you should notice an immediate difference, other than the loudness...

                    check your cat brother man...

I would, just take a 1" X 1" wooden stick about 2 ft long and just ram all the shit outta it... Then bolt her back on there, test pipe / stright pipe for the win

ok well, ...took the cat off today and beat all the platinum stuff out. Started messing with the plug wires on the dizzy and when I pulled 2 and 3 off there was no change in the engine....so guessing the guy that hooked all of this up messed up the plug order on the dizzy....if I am looking at the cap, starting at top left and going clockwise, what should the plug wire order be?

I don't have any plug posts sitting at 12 o clock on my cap.....the cap is mounted with the flat part dead at the bottom and the rounded part at dead top....so the post are at about 10 o clock, 2 o clock, 4 o clock and about 7 o clock....which one should I be considering the starting point for the 1 3 4 2 order????

if it helps any, the C on the cap is at the top right, sorta in the 2 o clock position and the a is bottom left in the 7 o clock position. And it is an obd1 h22a

instead of using a "clock" format, use the coil.

from the coil, going clockwise, its 1342.
