    H22A Shifter

    Hi,

I have an Automatic F22A4 1991 Accord EX. I'm going to do the JDM H22A engine swap. If i plan on keeping my car automatic, which i do because i'm not going to race this, can i just buy the engine w/o the tranny for 1595?

    http://www.japanstarmotor.com/h22a.html

And I spoke with someone there they said the only thing i would need, other than what he had, would be a shifter, i'm not exactly sure why though? Unless i'm missing something.

Any help would be greatly appriciated,
    Thanks

    Edit:
also, has anyone here had experience with japanstarmotor? Good/bad?

If you're keeping it an auto then no, you don't need a different shifter. However, $1595 is a lot for a longblock.

is that still alot for a longblock if thats the final price, after tax and shipping?

      edit:
also, if it is...where else could i get one cheaper? I'm open to options and i have 1500 now

I would think so. I know Rebels got a H22 with auto tranny for that much shipped. Unless you want the mileage I'd get a tranny with ratios to match the H.

ok, so just for clarification, $1,600 for an h22a auto (final price) isn't bad? I mean, if you know where i could get one cheaper, i'm all ears...hmotorsonline wants 1900 for the stick...but makes no offer for an auto.

if you want to keep it a/t, i wouls suggest getting the complete swap with tranny. keeping it a/t is going to hurt performance, and having a f22 tranny will make it even worse. yes, it will be alot faster than what you have now, but it wont be performing at its full potential.

                ok,

well i've desided i'm going to change the a/t to a manny

Now, since i'm I want a manny now, what's the difference between hmotors "computer, manny, engine" combo and "full change over".

hmotorsonline.com is the best place to get a H22! you need to get the complete change over. you may have to get a header depending if the header is cut! i suggest get a VAFC ( lots of fun )! oh yeah the difference is the complete change over comes with shifter cables, shifter assembly, and axle shaft which you will need all of that since yours is an auto! good luck

I dont suggest a VAFC, i suggest an s100 or uber data, by the time you spend 300 on the VAFC and then tuning it you spend the same amount as the s100 unit, installed and dyno tuned.

thanks, both of you, for the input. In about two months or so I will have the money...provided I can find someone to help me do the work, help as in "lead". If anyone lives in Centrel-esk Texas post here

You better have some extra cash on hand, to replace seals timing belt water pump etc etc, clutch, spakr plugs... you know the drill...

                        better now then later.

aye, spark plugs need to be redone for sure...my car just passed 90k. As far as timing and all that, it was done a bit ago, i blieve a year, and as far as clutch, i wish i had one lol.

I'm totaly stoked about this swap though after seeing some of the H22A vids in the media section...wow...is all i have to say.
