What should I do...fix or swap?

Ok guys like the title says.....

Well my F22a (199,940 miles) is burning lots of oil after about 5k rpm, which are the piston rings. Plus it's running a bit rich, well my plans were to do this guys, but I don't know what I should do. But here my thoughts:

    1. Swap an H22 (for daily driving) and rebuild my F22a within time to boost it.
    2. take it to my buddy kyle (f22turbo702) to have the piston rings replaced.
    3. Sell the car and get another one.

    Any input is great guys!
    Thanks...

you should ask yourself, which is more cost effective and can you afford the down time of the engine being repair or replaced?

Yeah, I'd go for the more cost effective route.

Haha, I should listen to myself, I had a blown head gasket on my old f22, rather than replace it, I swapped in an h22. Damn that's a fun motor to have

Well guys my CB is like my baby, she is my daily driver, takes me to work, skool and stuff.

But I've always wanted to mess around with an H22, the swap and everything is gonna cost me as much as replacing the f22 rings.....

But whats you guys opinion? I need some more advice guys....

The h22a has its pro and cons. The only real con is the 91 octane that kinda sux unless your ballin or dont care. Rebuild the stock f22a and throw some upgrades at make it better.

Hey at least your F22 doesnt have crank walk! But when my motor finally dies, knowing my luck 3 years from now, I am going with an H22a again. But I am telling you, buy from a reputable importer like hmotors or tigerjapanese. I had sooooo much trouble with my H22a and the current owner still catches hell with that motor until this day and its been 2 years. Some people have bad luck with them like I did and some people drop them in and have been daily driving them for years now.

Take the money you would use for the swap and throw it into the F. It'll make power with the right parts.

it all depends on how much money you care to spend. there are so many different ways you could go.

to some, buying a new car would be the most desirable option. but if your CB is you "baby" as you say, then maybe it's worth it to you to hang onto it for the long haul. I don't figure on selling my car anytime soon, so for me it's really a question of where I want to go performance wise.

you're always going to have a lot of people saying "H22 FTW!" and they could be right, it's an easy swap, it's got a lot of history now and a lot of support. but to me it's only a good option if you can get a good motor for cheap. around my area, the motor will cost you about $1000 and if you want someone to install it for you you're looking at about $2000 total (if you want it done by a reputable shop). for that much, I'd just as soon build the F22 and get some respect for trying something a little more unique. plus, I got love for the F22.

and even if you want to boost the F22 in future, you'll need a teardown and rebuild anyways, so a nice NA build for it will only be prepping it for future boosted applications and you can sell anything you put in it that's NA specific.

again tho, it's all a question of money, availability and desire. if you want easy performance and you can get an H for cheap and install it yourself or get a friend to do it for cheap, you can have 200HP for possibly under $1000. if you want to take a harder path with a more rewarding payoff, then I say build that F.
