    Discarding Your Old Motor

    As all of you know these motors weigh about 3 to 600lbs. So my question is this,
    Is the CB able to carry that 600lbs h22 for a long ride. I'm thinking not and I pick mine up at JDM Engine Depot in NJ I'll take my truck.

    Next once I get it in and working, do I just take old motor to either the Junkyard or the city dump to dispose of it.

    Sorry this was just a random thought. I don't think we can just leave these out for garbage day.

    Oh one more thing. When and if I order the H22 instead of picking it up when it arrives what prep is involved should I expect to build a little bit of the motor prior to swapping it.

    Just some questions that came up while I was reading cp[mike]'s write up on the f22 removal

        On top of the other reponses in this thread;

        Yes, you can put a motor in the trunk of a CB7. It's been done before, it can be done again.

            600lbs?

            Are we talking about a cast iron V8 here? You can probably chop about 150-200lbs off that weight, if not more.

              Yeap.

              The h22 shortblock weighs 123 lbs and the trans weighs under 100. The additional accessories on the h22 aren't going to bring the weight up an additional 400 lbs.

              Also, 4 average size passengers = 600 lbs.

              The only thing you'll have to contend with is how you're going to seat it in the trunk. A 1/2" thick cut up piece of plywood might do the trick.

                This is why i have a pick up truck but i've heard of people saying that they had have an engine with tranny in the back seat area while traveling long distances.

                  Juan's Econoline FTW!

                  We picked up an H from NY, drove to Dover,NJ, picked up an F22, then drove that back down to South Jersey.

                  Not to mention the 5spd swap, wheels, lol we had everything and room for much more!!

                    yup i've picked up 2 different motors in same day with my cb, first was a longblock KA24, and the other is another F22A. nothing happened, except my radiator blew BEFORE i first picked up the KA, but other than that just put it in the center with the center seatbelt, and you'll be fine.
