Who said that?
I don't think I said anything about the P14... because I have no real firsthand experience with it... So I guess it wasn't me...
EDIT: I reread and found the choke comment... With out the KS it would choke... but with it installed somewhere in a ghettofied manner it shouldn't hinder performance that much if at all... H22 guys don't seem to have too many problems with knock... Well NA H22 guys anyways...
But just from a theoretical standpoint... The H23A1 is geared more towards low-mid range tq than hp... So, In theory it wouldn't be the optimal setup either... but I would guess it's a hell of alot better than a PT3 or PT6...
P39's aren't that hard to find... well, semi hard to find for a good price... but they pop up every now and then from private sellers and many importers have a spare or 2 every now and then...just have to keep up on calling around...
You want a hard to find ECU? try finding a PT2 for less than $150-200+ in a 6 month timeframe...
how does the f20 respond to the apexi? did you use a real dyno or ass dyno/ research the best settings for it? i've been thinking of an safc for the f22b but don't want to mess anything up.

It responds pretty well...I like it...
I had a 1st Gen SAFC in there for about 2 days and didn't really dig the knobs all that much... and on the 3rd day a friend told me he was selling his fairly new SAFCII for $125 so I bought it...
I kind of had a leg up from jumping into tuning it blindly though from all the work I did with the chipped P06/P28 way back when...
So I knew what I was doing... well more than most...and I'm under the supreme delusion that my ass dyno is fairly (read: somewhat?) accurate...
I didn't make all that many adjustments... just played around with a few key areas and it seemed to idle better and pull alot better in the mid-upper rpm range...
So No, no real tuning per se... There's no dyno around here that's decent or run properly by intelligent people and the few that are are overpriced and you are not allowed to have any part or say in the tuning process...which wouldn't be Sooo bad if they knew what they were doing...
But yeah... It's a good tuning tool...
I'm tempted to retract my statement about it being a band-aid tuning device but there are better tools out there IMO... still decent though if you can get it for $150 or under...
The SAFC has always struck me as a band-aid device... Not that I don't believe that it's good, but it seems pretty limited for the money. And dangerous, since it's "easy to use"...
My idea for a cheap (cheaper) engine management soulution would be a chipped ECU (P28 in my case) with a romulator. I should probably make a whole new thread to discuss this, rather than whore up this one... Still, it seems like a decent setup to me! All I would need to do is borrow a laptop, or (ultimately) build my in-car computer system. Plug the romulator in, and run uberdata for real-time tuning.

I wholeheartedly agree...
and the chipped ECU, and freeware ROM tuning programs is what I was alluding to in my previous post...
but in all honesty... I was a bit surprised by some of the features of the SAFC... which made me rethink my negativity towards it SOMEWHAT... There are btter options out there but if you get an awesome deal on it then it is a decent tool...but for the average market price of $225 I wouldn't have even thought twice about it...
