good, finally SOMEONE WITH SOMETHING USEFUL. gah, i can't believe how many people posted with useless info. so did you bend the line? i can get the a/c evac'd for free and i'm thinking of changing (retrofitting) to r134 refrigerant. anyone have a diy for that?

my Megan Header comes right out? I've got a H22a...plain and simple. All i did to make it come out was to first loosen but not remove completely, the 9 12mm nuts on the cyl. head so it gives the DP some slack to access those 3 14mm nuts that connects the two sections, and then remove those 3 14mm nuts, and then take off those 9 12mm nuts.

my A/C lines are far enough outta the way that it doesn't affect it you can bend them a little bit, most of that thick stuff is just insulation to keep them cool. Or you can try twisting the header after you pull it straight out a bit. It also helps to use a swivel socket w/ extensions for that right side nut under the PS bracket but i'm sure you already got that down.

maybe take a pic of the area? to give us a better idea of the situation

If you're still having problems installing that header, don't worry about disconnecting the AC piping.

              - Unbolt the four bolts holding the AC compressor to the block.
              - Remove AC / alternator belt.
              - Place the AC unit, with all AC piping attached, onto the front crossmember. (same location it sat at when the F22 was out and the H22 was going in.)
              - The movement of the AC compressor, along with the attached piping, should give you a good 2 extra inches of wiggle room. This should do it.

              And bam, you're set.

I was just responding to the question posted so I guess anything irrelivant to H22 Header Instal shoudn't be on the thread.

yeah, the ac compressor wont come off because the dam radiator is in the way. basically i had to remove the radiator and all the other good shi* i was referring to in the OP. but, i just had the freon evacced by a shop for free cuz i had a coupon *ftw!*. has anyone taken off the header by removing the ac line instead of just unbolting it from the block?

9takord, i wasnt referring to you, but have you tried replacing the header yet? it is a major PITA and there is not enough room by just unbolting the bolts to the head.

Wow, you must have a thick radiator.

Regarding "has anyone taken off the header by removing the ac line instead of just unbolting it from the block?", could you be a little more specific?

Since its impossible to remove the header by only removing the AC lines and disregarding the header bolts, I'm assuming you mean something else.

If you mean removing the header by removing the AC lines but not unbolting the AC compressor from the block, then I'm pretty sure most people here haven't done it that way. Releasing freon is an expensive way to swap a header.

With that said, if you do remove the AC lines, then yeah it should be easy to remove the header with or without the AC compressor bolted to the block. The lines are the only things in the way, usually.

That is all I have ever done.
                        yea exactly

whoever mentioned taking motor out, putting header on, then dropping motor back in needs to go to school. thats just retarded unless the motor is already out, which it isnt

My previous post was for the other member who seemed pretty offended by my second post on this thread.
Yes I did in fact I did mine and my friends which also has a h22 on it. It was 2 different brand of header and did not have the same problem installing and removing on the car.
