How to install header on h22a swapped cb7?

How do you install a header on a h22a swapped cb7?

It seems as if the ac line is in the way and you can't get the header out if i just unbolt it from the down pipe and block.

Do I have to remove the AC line? Would that be easiest? Has anyone done this yet? When the h22a was swapped in, I had to take off the alternator and the ac compressor in order to put the header as well as the radiator because I wasn't able to slide the header off because it kept banging into the ac lines.

What I am thinking my options are:

Have someone evacuate the R12 refrigerant and do a r134 retro myself after the new header is on.

    OR

Just drain the radiator, remove radiator, remove the alternator from block, remove the ac compressor from block to give me enough room to put the new header on.

My AC has gotten warmer, but not extremely warm. I am thinking some got lost somehow when I was doing the swap? It isn't warm, but it isn't COLD, it just cool, and cooler than ambient temperature.

Does anyone have a DIY r134 ac retrofit with list of parts needed to buy? I can get the r12 evacuated for free so I think I am leaning toward the r134 retrofit.

    Suggestions, comments?

You should be able to install it without taking out all that part that you mention.

the easy way would be to put the header on with the motor out the lower it in...lol but hell i didn't do that either ..... yeah i had to bend it out of the way a little, at the metal part near the compressor. go slow, be careful not to crack or break it. gl

        Just Install it

The only thing I have ever taken off for the stock header are the two bolts that attach the down pipe to to the block. That is so I can bend the down pipe out of the way.

That is all I have ever done.

you should have to remove anything youve listed. just slip the upper section through the top & lower section through the bottom

na man its EASY. just unbolt the upper and lower portions, then unbolt it from the cylinder head, then take it outta there! you're overthinking it.

how many people who posted a reply have a h22a swap in their car? it's NOT as easy as replacing a header on an A4 because there is NO room to slide the header out. you can unbolt all of the bolts, but you cannot slip the header out because it hits the ends of the bolts that are screwed inside the block.

the brand of header doesnt make a difference, with the h22a in it, there is no room whatsoever to wiggle it out. i dont know why people who dont even have h22a swaps bother responding to this question by saying "just remove it".

if it's a one piece it "does" make a difference. What everyone else has said is correct, doesn't matter if it's an h22 or f22, procedure is the same.

Actually, on some cars is not as easy as one might think.

I can't remember who's car I was working on, but we were reinstalling the header and the a/c line that goes to the compressor was in the way. We ended up just bending it enough to get the header to slip in.
