    My H22 Engine arrived (questions)

I went out and bought an H22A Automatic for $750 from JHOT (on Ebay)
Every part (Minus the car) came with it

But after $10 of paint I came out with this
I later polished out the VTEC portion

I then took the head off and discovered ALOT of sludge.
I mean alot, alot, ALOT of sludge....
    Pictures.

    And a couple of vids

I had a mechanic view it, we compression tested it and he found perfect compression.
He believed the oil was never changed, just added to.
It has the original Honda branded timeing belt
We both agreed it looks as though it has 60K of no maintenence
    He suggested re-build

My question is should I start it on a stand and let it run?
Or what would some of you guys suggest?

        i would say

buy a gallon of seafoam, pour the bitch in the motor let it sit, then replace all seals and oilpump pick up and gear

take the oil pan and cylinder head to a machine shop where they can degrease eveerything and replace the valve stem seals. if the compression was good, id still run it.

          Jhot is from georgia right?

Id say if your compression is ok id do a leak down test and if your good I would replace all the seals and belt, WP ect... and when you run the car let it idle . and do the seafoam treatment . in order for the seafoam to work properly you need the engine running so the seafoam goes thru all the oil gallies and passages and then change the oil and within 500 miles than again in another 500 for safe measures so you can get rid of all that slude.

NICE you finally got it! well yeah also be sure to look in the T stat housing to see if you might have a BAD coolant issue....ie chunky coolant like I had. If you have any type of build-up in the T stat housing...then yeah I'd do what I did and take the head off and send it to the machine shop to have them inspect all the valve guides and valve stem seals....might as well have them replace them if you take the head off.

I would rebuild it if you have the funds now, b/c it a hell of a lot easier to do when out of the car rather than all swapped in later on.

I really wanted it, but it didn't happen. Bar in the middle means no right?
I'll talk to them and try to get one
                      I got an MP1A
                      My CB has an MPXA
                      Are they same or what?

How come everyone suggests valve guides and such?
Are these problem areas on an H?

mp1a came in two types lsd and non lsd(h22a and h23). check the differential. if you see something in it then its non lsd. if you can see through the hole then its lsd.

Well we are getting warmer, is the LSD interchangable?
Say if I buy a MP1A LSD can I put it in my rebuilt non-lsd MP1A?

jdm trannies and usdm trannies arent interchangable (lsd wise at least). if the mp1a is jdm and isnt lsd then you can but if its a usdm mp1a non lsd you cant. if i sound confusing. its something with the bellhousing that wont make it fit?? took me forever to find this answer about a year ago

jdm tranny + jdm tranny non lsd = interchangable

jdm tranny + usdm tranny non lsd = not interchangeable

                              Ok....so I looked around for LSD's
                              My Auto is JDM obviously
                              There is LSD's for 92-96 H22/H23's
Are all of these for manuals? Or are these interchangable aswell?
Hell I'd be willing to crack my tranny open to put an LSD in
