hard to put shifter into gear.

i just finish doing the 5spd conversion on my 91 lx. Everything went fine exept that the shifter is really hard to put in gear, specially 1st. I already did all of what i could find in the threads of this forum, check for shifter bolts tight, shifter cables connected right, disconnected cables to check how hard it was without them connected and it works perfect(soft and easy to move) i also moved the tranny levers and they are easy to move without the cables. i bleed the system twice just to make sure it had no air in it, but nothing works, its a 92 preludeh22 tranny. please help me.

Is there enough (not to mention, the right) fluid in the tranny?

If there is tranny fluid, check the clutch fluid. You have to bleed the clutch. Ther is a nozzle inbetween the battery and the primary (header). You may need another body to help you bleed to make it easier.

      It's just like bleeding brakes.

That too. And its easier than bleeding brakes, I think. About four times easier.

well three. you still have to bleed one

if those suggestions dont work, then clutch might be toast

bleed it more, theres probly air still in it. have someone watch to make sure the slave cyl is pushing the clutch fork enough, slave cyl could be bad also.

                  found something

while driving the car i notice that the only way that the gear will go in smoothly is when im slowing down an at stop light, while the car is still moving i try to put into first and after a couple of seconds holding a little bit of pressure to the shifter i will go in smoothly. what could the problem be?

                    ur tranny is fucked

mine does the same exact thing

i made some improvements tothe shifting assembly so it'll go into gear more easly

                    DIY short throw shifter
                    slave
                    clutch MC
                    9091 shifter cables (adjustable ends)

and it still hard to put it in 1st sometimes but it improved mine alot

                      did that help?

i also have the ajustable shifter cables, and all of the parts are from the yard, the slave is from the prelude 92 and the MC from an accord. so you think is the tranny thats fucked?

^^^I agree. I can only go with my experience in my 95 Civic. I had the 3rd gear synchro go bad, or start to go bad and that was exactly the same symptons. When you slow down enough it allows the synchro to do it's job and change the gear. It got to a point where I finally lost 3rd, 5th and finally 1st. After 1st gear lost I could only go 30mph and had the tranny changed. I guess 1,3 and 5 are on the same shaft. Not sure though.

mines is the same thing. when Im at a full stop. its sometimes hard to put it into 1st. I find that if the car rolls forward a bit it goes it just fine. also if I let go of the clutch & give it a tiny bit of gas it goes into 1st fine too.

since you just did the swap and its easy on the tranny arms, and the shifters alone.....I would check to see if you routed the cables correctly
