the b-series tranny is shorter so u would keep ur RPM`s high an closer to the V-tec range so that you can run your h22 harder through all your gears
heres a couple facts (gear ratios) for you... as you can see the B-series is significantly shorter FTW ...!

    H22 M2B4 lsd(optional)
    1st: 3.307
    2nd: 1.950
    3rd: 1.360
    4th: 1.034
    5th: 0.787
    final drive - 4.266

    B18b1 Y80 lsd(optional)
    1st: 3.230
    2nd: 1.800
    3rd: 1.30
    4th: 1.024
    5th: 0.787
    Final Drive:-4.100

I think you're a lil mistaken. What you've shown is that the H is shorter than an ls tranny?. If you had the specs for the ITR tranny it would be shorter as you described. The final drive for the 98+ type r is like a 4.7 and i believe that is what everyone is after....

    edit: JDM ITR, 98+
    1st - 3.250
    2nd - 2.105
    3rd - 1.458
    4th - 1.034
    5th - 0.787
    final - 4.785 - Most desirable

the fact of the matter is, if you want shorter gears than the t2w4 tranny, your other option is buying a custom final drive and custom lsd.

the reason people put b series tranny's on h22's in civics is because, A: you can keep the stock shifter, axles, and tranny mounts, and B: the gearing is shorter than the H series trannies.

stock ITR tranny on a h22 is a mean combo in a 2000lb car, and when you get to keep the stock tranny mounts, axles, and and shifter, it makes the swap a whole lot easier.

You asked for the BEST option in the CB7 chassis. H-series tranny is it.
